did you guess the who the HBP was correctly?

Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

i know i definetly did not guess Severus Snape. I suspected Lord Voldemort himself I expected the HBP book to be a horcrux itself and that the name would be half blood because as we know from the penesive Lord Voldemort was a half blood being the son of a witch mother and a muggle father and he would have referred to himself as a prince as it is a position of power and Lord Voldemort always desired power even as a child.

I don't mean to be rude, and sorry if I am, but Salazar, do you not read the topics of the threads?

This one should be under something like HBP discussion.

He was one of my bets on being the HBP (the other was Dumbledore) and when reading the book, I was thinking that it might really be Snape (because of the same handwriting), but then JKR got me totally confused when she wrote that the book is 50 years old...

It wasn't when I said that. It must have been moved and no one said they did. I believe it was under fanfics before.

Yeah it does. It confused me as well. I looked over my post, looked where it was again, read it again, and after repeating this about 3 times, I finally figured it out what had happened.

i thought it was snape from the writing (recodnised it from the OWL paper he was writing on in OotP), but the 50 year thing totally threw me, and then i was completely lost...

before reading the book i actually thought it might be some new character or even that it might be some relative or frind of harry (to some extenct i was thinking it might actaully be harry suffering multiple personalities- cause i really hated how he acted in ootp --i thought he was rather selfish, and thinking too high of him).
when i started to read the book i thought of LV because of the 50 years old...though what puzzeled me was the fact that harry didn't seem to reconize the hand writing from the diary! but how come he didn't reconized snape's hand writting :???: ....i mean hand writing is like a signiture of personality... and he didn't even bother to think of snape. maybe he just wanted so hard to be his father...and maybe that's why he trusted it so much and ended up in using sectumsempra.

I can think of two reasons why he wouldn't think it was Snape.

1. The handwriting was similar but not exactly the same because handwriting can tend to change slightly over the years. This is especially true of someone that's a teacher (board writing isn't always the same as paper writing, and just having to write so much can change it so it can be done more quickly while still being legible). Also, Snape would have been writing all tiny in the book to fit everything in while he'd be writing big enough on the board for the class (at least the Slytherins) to read.

2. He wouldn't want it to be Snape. He hates Snape more than anyone, but he really liked the Prince. I mean who couldn't like someone that taught you all those potions tricks and really neat spells like Levicorpus, Muffliato, and the tongue one. Sure Sectumsempra was bad, but he already had the high opinion of the Prince at the time. He just didn't want to think that there might actually be something he liked about Snape. He said it himself while walking up to the castle with Snape on the first night, he wanted any reason to hate Snape (to better blame him for Sirius' death).

Then again, Harry doesn't need a lot of help looking for reasons to hate Snape. They were never what we call, civil
