House elves i'm sure have rules, they may bve able to protect thier master, but can they kill if it is not in defense, it seems(from what Dobby did) that they use more defensive magic.

umm person im wondering if you even read the harry potter books before you signed up here.. you call what dobby does defensive magic? IS DROPPING A CAKE ON SOMEONES HEAD USING A LEVITATION CHARM DEFENSIVE?

Anyway, Dobby had good intentions with the violet pudding, so we must let that pass. And he wasn't trying to drop it on anyone's head.

You also have to remember that the Ministry has laws for the elves and that if they break a big one, like, oh, say, killing someone, some bloke like MacNair would ...dispose... of them.

well yea thats what should happen if they kill someone but thats not what always does happen. I mean really how many DE's have killed someone and they have still not been put in Azkaban, being able to apparate anywhere the house elves would be very good at hiding.
