Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

i've noticed that nobodys even talked about that on this forum but i beleive it was one of the ost imporatant and debatable subjects about this book. so what are your thoughts on the whole thing? is their a secret meaning to it?

Important how? Other than we learn about Horcruxes. Perhaps I am missing something, share your view!

It's an important scene, and confirms DDs suspicions, but I don't think there's anything more to it really.
I think DD also wanted Harry to get the memory to see for himself, and also to stop him nosing into what Malfoy / Snape were up to.

The importance of the memory was that it...
A) Confirmed Dumbledore's suspicion of how Voldemort was remaining "alive" and why he was physically warping into a snake-creature over the years.
B) More importantly, it revealed to DD the NUMBER of Horcruxes Voldemort would use.

could be a red herring. just because riddle ASKED about the possibility of 7 doesn't mean he necessarily USED 7. could be less... could be more...

Sounded to me like he already had his plan in place. He'd thought about it before, he just wanted to know if it was possible. It's probably dangerous, so he might not want to go with more than seven.

Slughorn modified his memory because he was ashamed of his telling Riddle about Horcuxes. NO more, no less. He thought Riddle a prize member of his club at the time (due to his talent) but later regretted telling him. Slughorn, despite being head of Slytherin, is redemned. He would renounce what he told Voldemort in a second.

It also showed us basically why DD wanted him as a teacher.

A 600 and some page book in 3 hours? Are you Superman? If so, that'd be cool.
I think that ol' Voldy wouldn't stray from such a magical number. The only other numbers that seem to have great magical properties are 3 and 12. We know it's not 3 because we've already been introduced to 4 pieces of his soul. I think 12 might be a bit excessive, and it doesn't seem to be nearly as powerful a number as 7.
