Irony

Postby EFish91 » Wednesday 27 July 2005 4:49:56pm

This topic is made for irony thoguhtout the Harry Potter series.
They talked about how "seven" was the magical number. That is why Riddle made such a big deal about making seven horcruxes. Does this have any means to why JKR has sworn to make "seven" books?

more irony?

Postby EFish91 » Wednesday 27 July 2005 4:52:44pm

Also, when Slughorn reffered to Ron when talking to Harry as "Rupert", which is the name of the actor who plays Ron. This is not irony at all i presume, and is just a extra thing JKR put in the book as DD-like humor. I find it pretty clever.

Possibly, it could also explain the theory, that in every book the reader was unconsciously introduced to a horcrux.

If that theory is true, let's take guesses about what the Horcruxes may be...
SS- LV himself
CoS- the diary
PoA- ???
GoF- Nagini
OofP- the locket
HBP- the goblet
Book 7- ???

the last horcrux?

Postby EFish91 » Wednesday 27 July 2005 5:18:20pm

book 7-harry potter?
but i dont htink JKR would do that. itd be too messy for harry to die. but its possible with the scar, dd says harry has a part of LV in him from when he attempted the murder, its possible the soul (horcrux) was put into harry.

I like the idea that each book we've met a new HCX, but surely for HBP it's the ring that's the new one?
and for POa - hmmm, might have to read it again - tho. I assume if this is the plan, it's something that was also put in the film....

Would it be possible that LV intended to use Harry's death to create a new horcrux, but due to the sacrifice/rebound thing Harry's scar was made horcrux instead of what LV intended and that LV doesn't know it?

Froggs, which Goblet? and you forgot the ring.

hmmm well, JK said ages ago that the last word of book 7 would be 'scar' so it could be possible that harry is a horcrux and he'll have to die, hence ending the books talking about the the boy with a scar.

Which given that the entire thing started with "The boy who lived" ending book seven with "The boy who died" would be a lovely piece of irony.

do we see the locket in OotP? Where?

Also, if Harry is indeed a horcrux, it doesn't mean that he has to die. The ring, for example, hasn't been destroyed after DD has destroyed part of LV's soul in it.

About page 100 in OotP

The theory of introducing one horcrux per book would rule Harry out as one though, unless that incarnation of Voldy didn't count and I suspect it did count.

Yup, the ring in HBP, sorry, I'm a dork.
Maybe He'll find the goblet in the last book, so all I need is something from POA :-)

I'm not kdding, I still think Harry is the last, and only accidental, Horcrux. You know, the specific spell wasn't used to do it, but through some accident of nature, teh same effect occoured and Harry will realize that he's the last one at the very last moment of the last fight

This would also fulfill a lot of the arguments behind the idea of Harry being essentiall the other Tom Riddle,

But if Harry is a horcrux, then it would, as you say, be accidental, therefore, Voldemort would not know that Harry was one. As we have been made abundantly clear on the point that nothing like this has happened before, LV could not assume anything about what happened, he would never guess that Harry is a Horcrux. This means that he would still make another horcrux, or at least that if Harry is a horcrux, then there are 6 others plus LV. So I think this disproves the theory of Harry Horcrux.
