without giving any spoilers about HBP, the reason I liked that one better than OotP is because it doesn't have so much of the teenage/adolescent angst that OotP had...I liked that it didn't necessarily follow the same old format...in general, I just found the book more enjoyable despite the things that happen in it.

I hadn't like OotP much on my first read through, it had taken me a second read through to finally like it.

I had two probs with OoTP. First, there was WAY too much subplot in it. Though JKR did not violate Niven's third law; "It's a sin to waste the reader's time" IMHO she came dang close. Second I didn't much like being at headquarters. It was too depressing.

HBP is my favorite so far.

HBP is better that OotP, IMO. Both are equally difficult to reread because of the "sad parts" though.

Someone moved this thread into the HBP section so feel free to spoil away.

I liked HBP much better than OotP. Harry was really annoying, second-guessing everyone, being angry in every chapter, his many outbursts. Also, I really hated that no one believed him about LV coming back. They said he was an attention-seeking lunatic. Umbridge was horrible. DD getting kicked out of Hogwarts.

HBP was much better especially b/c Harry got over himself and all his anger. He seemed much more mature and handled things better, even when Ron and Hermione and DD didn't believe him about Malfoy. At least this time he didn't throw a temper tantrum.

HBP was just another step up. It was a pretty perfect length and the amount of sub-plots was just right. I enjoy it a lot and think it's one of the best if not best in the series so far.

The more grown up love interests and the other characters having there individual problems rather than all together like in the OotP worrying bout Cirius and Harry

HBP for me! we find out a lot of new things and it's a better feeling seeing that Harry is being helped and trusted now.
