Please ignore if it's been mentioned before...

Although I don't think Harry actually is the final Horcrux (i.e. Voldemort kills harry, snape kills voldemort).......

When we first see the 'Riddle family ring' it's unmarked. Later, after it's been turned into a Horcrux and captured by Dumbledore it has a lightning shaped scar on it (see the side of HBP), perhaps left as a result of the Horcrux spell? This would tie in with the theory on Harry being a Horcrux too.

Just antoher thought about the lightning scars and horcruxes.

Perhaps the ring, like Harry, received it's scar from an Avadra Kedavra (sp?) curse, but this time from Dumbledore. Will Harry have to learn the death curse to kill the other Horcruxes and therefore be prepared for the final showdown with Voldemort?

But....the Avada Kedavra leaves no mark....
Perhaps LV was casting a different spell.

Or perhaps there's no way Harry is a Horcrux. The lightening mark tie in is interesting, but maybe a little too obvious for JKR?

LV attempted to use the Avada Kedavra curse at the end of GOF. As yet we don't know what he attempted to use when he was a year old.

The AK curse is a killing curse. I still don't believe LV would destroy one of his horcruxes.

I don't remember the ring not having any markings on it. (I've lent my copy to someone so will have to check when I get it back) I thought it had the Slytherin S with a snake going down the middle of it. I thought the markings disappeared after DD detroyed it as a horcrux - I don't remember the lightning mark on the ring? Can anyone else confirm?

Yeah I'm pretty sure it was split down the middle when DD was wearing it (why on Earth he was wearing it is a mystery).

I don't think the lightening mark is a symbol of a Horcrux though, because DD didn't refer to it. But I do think there is a very specifici reason for the shape of Harry's scar.

i dunno i think she might be just a describing word so we didn't get confused. Also good selling point. not sure if there's anything more to it!

I don't see why he couldn't have used Hary as A Horcrux, or moreto the point intened to use his corpse- what better trophy thn the body of the person who was prophecised to destroy you.. Making it an even greater victory by creating the Horcrux by killing them.

As we don't really know how horcruxes are we created- only that its a powerful spell, maybe one uses that spell before you kill the person- in order to prepare the object you want the part of your soul to enter.

Even though the curse rebounded- it was still cast- a soul was ripped from a body- it wasn't harrry's but the effect still occured the curse still worked. Hence Voldemorts soul would have split. Making possible that Harry became a Horcrux

However this means that HArry quite likely has to die in order to destroy Voldemort. I can''t see a way as of yet that he could remove the part of Voldemorts soul without sustain serious harm

You guys assume he made a horcrux on purpose. I believe it was entirely by accident and he doesn't know Harry has a bit of his soul

Tanuki, Interesting...

But I think LV knows that some of his powers have transferred to Harry after CoS - Ginny wrote in his diary all about him remember and how else would he have been able to open the Chamber?

And that bond between them that DD was always on about was a part of LV's soul..makes sense.

I don't think Voldemort knows Harry has a bit of his soul, but could still have intended for Harry to become the Horcrux. After all his Avada Kedavra did go rather wrong. If it had been me i wouldn't have thought that creating my horcrux had worked. I'd definately be much more interested in what happened to me.

From what Slughorn said it sounded like there is a particular incantation to create a Horcrux- hence decreasing the possibility that it occured by accident- although not completely ruling it out

seems like you'd know, though, if someone was walking around with your soul. if harry is a horcrux , LV clearly doesn't know it. he's been trying to kill him all this time. he wouldn't be trying to get rid of his own horcrux.

i'm totally buying into harry's scar being a horcrux, but here's something that's confusing me...at LV's rebirth in GoF, wormtail used bones of the father, flesh of the servant, and blood of the enemy (i think thats all) shouldn't a horcrux have been involved in LV's rebirth? I think so. so one of those three things should have been a horcrux in order for LV to be reborn. I think its either blood of the enemy or bones of the father. maybe LV kept a horcrux in his fathers bones. Or to tie into the scar/horcrux thing, Harry's scar is the horcrux, and just taking Harry's blood was enough horcrux to get LV alive again since Harry had Lily's protection in there too.

I really don't think Harry is a Horcrux. Sorry, but I just don't buy it. LV wants nothing more than to get rid of Harry. And, I don't think he made him a horcrux by accident.

I'm sure he would know if he made a horcrux; it seems to be a very deliberate thing. I can't imagine it just happening.

Of course, Rowling has surprised me before. We shall see...
