8th book.

Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

8th book.

I was just reading a forum on here about an 8th "after hogwarts book" and that could kinda make sense now.

we know harry isnt going to school anymore, so there isnt as big a reason to stop it so abruptly

alos, i think there is 4 horcrux left i believe. if so, that plus conquering voldemort and all that stuff is a lot of ground to cover. quite frankly i would actaully be kinda suprised if she could do it in one book.

what is your ouput?

There is no eighth book - JKR, her literary agent, her legal representations, everyone has said repeatedly there will be no eighth book - the series is meant to be, and will be, seven books long.

Now, having said that, I could certainly envision a scenerio where other writers write stories based in the "Harry Potter" universe. That, however, will be unlikely; writers tend to want to create their own stories and characters.

Another possible (and unlikely) scenerio would be a "Harry Potter TV show", in which we follow the exploits of another group of students who go to Hogwarts after the end of the seventh book. While I'm sure I can't be the only one who's thought of doing something like that, it would be tricky to pull off, because you would have to gamble on people enjoying "Harry Potter" without Harry Potter; even if some of us are wrong on Harry dying and he survives the last book, he wouldn't be in our hypothetical TV show because he would of left Hogwarts by then.

I, too, have read there won't be an eighth book, but I think JKR has said she may go back, a few years after the 7th book is out, and edit the 7 HP books...

i don't think there will be a 8th book, because i think harry will find the 4 horcruxes more quickly now he's out of hogwarts. the pace will be much quicker in book 7. he won't have squeez saving the wizarding world in around transfiguration and lights out. he'll get everything done in one book, cos there won't be the usual set pattern, durselys-burrow-train-hogwarts year with minor incidents-right at end of hogwarts year a major battle of some kind-DD's speech-go home on train-harry a bit more scarred but wiser.

that'll be gone and anything can happen in book 7. also in regard to an 8th book, i think that JK might publish some more background stuff like the books she did for comic relief. a 'history of hogwarts' would be good.

but also i think this because on her website, the 'edits' sections. she said when it opened that she had boxes and boxes full of these notes and she'd put lots of them on the section, but that section is never updated, it has stayed the same for so long that i think JK has changed her mind and is keeping those little entertaining details to herself so she can actually publish them properly rather than just throwing them away on the website.

I was discussing this this morning. I think that the 7th book will be the final one. But she still has a lot to squeeze into one book, even if it has a faster pace. I can either see 7 being a VERY large book, or JKR not going into as much detail about things. I guess it is possible to do it all in one book, but i think she will won't be able to tie up all the loose ends in just one more book.

JKR will do another book unless harry dies i think as she wont be able to stay away from something she's been a part of for 16 years! and i doubt the fans of the book wont want to find out what happens to the wizarding world after LV dies or doesnt.

I dunno - if she's had the ending about since she started, is she really gonna follow it if that's the end she sees as tying it all up?
I think she'll probably do another charity book or two, but not another full one.

She might come back to it after a while. She's fairly young, maybe she'll get senitmental. I believe that Rowling herself stated that she may write an eighth book, a sort of encyclopedia or something of the wizarding world if I remember correctly.

I think that if she would let other authors write stories in her universe, they would. It works with Star Wars, right?

Yes, I think she said something about an explanatory 8th volume that wouldn't be a novel but would fill in gaps about the wizarding world. (Something like Phillip Pullman is doing with his "Book of Dust" follow-up to the His Dark Materials trilogy and Tolkien did with the appendices to the Lord of the Rings.)

If I recall correctly, she may have even said the profits would be donated to charity.

All I have ever heard her say is that the 7th would be the end. I believe her. She may write some update material later in her life, if she misses Harry too much, but I can't see her writing anymore full length novels about Harry. Maybe the will be companion books.

Maybe she will start fresh with another series, but probably not.

I think this is it guys, though I'd love there to be more. It never seems enough. I always want more.

PS-I do think she will be able to wrap it up in book 7. Harry is determined, tunnelvisioned.

You just have to look at all the questions that have sprouted from this book alone! There are also other questions from other books that haven't been answered. One book would be way to long and crammed, i think " really long books would be better :P

i guess it would have to be a really long book 7 harry really has absolutely no clue about any of the horcruxes. there is also the mystery about R.A.B. I for one cant wait to see harry get revenge on snape

i think she said in a na interview that book 7 would be no longer than OotP, and maybe even a bit shorter.

If she hasnt written it i'm not sure can accurately judge and i'd prefer a massive book if is going to be the last one or two editions rather than to have plot gaps and unanswered questions. Plus i doubt JKR will want to leave the gaps, cosshe doesnt seem like that

She has said since Day One that there's only 7 books in the series. And she had the ending planned from the start, so I dont see why she would change her mind now.

Book 8 should be Hogwarts: A History. We hear enough about it!!!
