Funny Parts of HBP

Postby Un'Anima Persa » Sunday 17 July 2005 8:33:17pm

Here is a place to discuss the Funny Parts of HBP

I personally like the part about Trelawny tripping over her shawls.

I thought Fleur brought a few laughs to the book, when she was around the Weasleys... which was just about everytime we heard about her.

I liked Mr. Weasly's dearest ambition and when Luna was commentating the Quidditch match. The part where Ron ate the Cauldron Cakes meant for Harry was also good :D

Dumbledore bouncing the drinks up against the Dursleys' heads.

Much funnier book than OotP, mostly due to Dumbledore. Nearly all Dumbledore's words to the Dursley's are quotable:

"I must say your agapanthuses are flourishing"

"Shall we assume you've invited me into your sitting room"

"it would have been better manners to drink it you know"

Even when in mortal danger, DD still comes out with them:

Malfoy: "your phoenix lot got in the way"

Dumbledore: "Yes, they do that"

Ya the whole first part of the book was hysterical where Dumbledore was at the Dursleys but another funny part was where Harry was talking to Lupin and said "You are normal you just have a .... problem"
and Lupin laughed and said" sometimes you remind me a lot of James... he used to call it my Furry Little Problem in company... many were under the impression that I owned a badly behaved rabbit."

i have to say the descriptions of ron and lavenders, well, moments together were hysterical. i just kept getting mental images of a ron grinning wildly next to a poor lavender whose face was absolutely dripping... poor dear. :D

i always laugh when in the bits where ginny shows her weasly temper, in the joke shop putting fred and george straight. but it was hilarious when she destroyed ron in that corridor. go ginny!!!

I laughed when Prof. Slughorn -- who kept butchering Ron's name -- finally referred to him as "Rupert". That reference may make Rupert Grint the first movie-connected Potterite to have his name intentionally mentioned in one of the books.

yeah i laughed too, and wondered if it was deliberate. but it couldn't have not been. but yes that was funny. also i liked seeing harry beat hermione in potions. don't know why but i just thought it was funny, especially when he did that bezoer (sp) thingy in class and hermione had worked and worked on an immensely complex potion.

I actually laughed out loud when Ginny and Hermione fought and Ron lookaed at Harry and then grabbed up a book and hid behind it. Also whenever Ron hid behind Hermione when Lavender came.

No mine was when Ginny got asked if Harry had hipogriff tatoo on his chest. She saud that he had a Nowiegen Ridgeback instead. then Harry asked what she told her that Ron had and she said a pygmy! LOL

i laughed at hermione trying to run from mcClaggen at the party. also at the love potion that ron was under. that was funny

but generally seeing harry being pursued the whole way round the school constantly by girls, especially that romilda vane girl. and the fact that harry was more at threat from every girl in the school trying to spike him with love potion was hilarious. and the quidditch try-outs. all girls and hardly any gryffindors, *shakes head* mad....

I laughed greatly when Dumbledore introduces Slughorn to the students and says that he's going to teach potions. And then Snape's got the DADA job and Harry says, "No!". Poor Harry, he was so shocked.

And then I liked very much Ginny attacking Zacharias Smith when he was commentating the match... And Slughorn's first "party" in the train was funny too, how he asked about the connections the students have and when Belby (was it him?) was revealed as not having that good connections, he started ignoring him, he didn't get any sweets... Dear Slughorn, funny little character he is. Or when he scooped Snape out of thin air at a party...

The funniest was Mrs. Weasley's reaction to the U-NO-POO advert in Fred and George's shop.

"They'll be killed in their beds."

hahahahaha!

And most of Ginny's lines. She seems to get the most entertaining ones.

How about Grawp pounding Hagrid on his head and driving his chair into the ground.
