Just finished - am in shock

Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

although harry did vow he would NEVER let another person die for him... but it seemed he resigned to the idea that ron and hermy are going with him now that i read the end again.

><

i just reread DD's funeral and what on earth is this "phoenix flying into the blue" harry thought he glimpsed from DD's body?????
maybe i'm just looking for hope. maybe it was fawkes, but i was under the impression fawkes had left. WHAT IS GOING ON JKR? Why are you messing with my head????

sigh... :(

on Dumbledore being dead: I feel that he definitely is, if for no other reason than because his portrait has appeared in the headmaster's office. Of course, that also begs the question: shouldn't Harry be able to communicate with Dumbledore when his portrait "wakes up", assuming he is able to enter the office? Are there limitations on what kind of communication can be had with the deceased headmasters in the portraits?

The portraits are pretty much like the person themselves, as they are supposed to lend advice to the resident headmaster/mistress so harry could still communicate with him like that.

the one thing a person doesn't like being called is the truth of what they are. if you've tried your whole life to tell yourself you're not a coward

How do you figure Snape is a coward? When has he ever done a single cowardly act?

wow dd death just blew me away. i thought it would happen, just not so soon, hopefully this RAB character will show himself in the next book and become harrys new mentor or even the new leader for OoTP. i thought harry might take that step, but it would be weird since hes still so young.

The best guess I can think of for R.A.B. is Regulus Black, which assumes he had an "A" middle name. Remember that only Death Eaters refer to Voldemort as the "Dark Lord", which is who the message on the fake Horcrux is written to. Further, it would only make sense that a Death Eater would know of Voldemort's Horcruxes; Voldemort made mention of his going "farther down the path to immortality than any other wizard", and it would be rather pointless to say something like that to his followers without his followers having a frame of reference to base that statement off of. Even further, Regulus' name is dropped a few times into conversations in the book, the purpose (if my theory is correct), to keep the name at least in the back of your mind when it is sprung on you in book seven. So there won't be a "When the hell did Sirius have a brother named Regulus?" reaction.

i'm not quite sure yet if i think snape is a coward, it's just a theory as to why he got so angry. it's just sometimes you react most to what you know you are deep down. and although he's not a coward all the time, maybe at some point in his life he's dome something cowardly, like tell VD where the potters are for his own need for revenge on james. i don't know but maybe being a coward once in his life has made him averse to hearing himself being called one cos then he remebers what he did.

but of course this is pure speculation as to the psychology of snape's mind ans why he went so mental. also i'd say it was a cowardly act to kill DD like that.

Snape feels he is a coward because he didn't stop his father beating his mother. I think when Harry is seeing Snapes memories he sees one where Snape is cowering in a corner. I think it is because of that that he does things to prove he's not a coward. I mean, he calls Sirius a coward numerous times, and implies that because he's putting himself at Voldemorts mercy that he is definatly not a coward because he constantly pts himself in danger. However killing someone who is unable to defend himself such as DD was is pretty cowardly if you ask me....

Hi,
Two theories:1. DD knows ALL, he completeley trusts Snape, do you recall before HP and He went out to the cave, Harry was Questioning DD about Why he felt he could trust Snape, and there was a pause, like DD was not sure if he should tell Harry something. Also the promises DD had Harry make before they went to the cave. On the roof when Draco crashed open the door, Harry said he could not move; I think DD put a enchantment on Harry so he would not stop Draco, (Harry stated he was struggling to move and then he said it was probably because he was so frightened, not likely), I think it was a set up between DD and Snape. Either by DD drinking that potion in the cave (which for the moment lets think that Snape made it for him to counter the death curse) so either DD wants everyone to think he is dead or if the above is all wrong then remember that the old head masters are still alive in the pictures on the wall in the head masters office, so DD will still be a part of book 7 I think.

Wow I finished it last night and I cried so much. First I cried when Harry and Dumbledore were in the cave and Dumbledore was drinking the potion because you just saw him in this position that you NEVER see. Then when he died that was it for me. But ok, heres my question. I agree that the whole pleading with Snape for his life is totally unlike Dumbledore. So,WAS he pleading with Snape to kill him? But if he was and he wanted to die for some reason... why didn't he just have Harry leave him in the cave to die? I mean he had already made Harry promise that if he told him to leave Dumbledore and save himself Harry would. I don't think Dumbledore wanted to die (not because he was afraid) but because he thought he still needed to teach Harry some more things. But once Harry was going to get Snape (and it is logical that he would want Snape since he knows so much about the Darks Arts he could help him) Dumbledore realized that something was wrong and froze Harry. He knew that if anything were going to happen Harry would fight to the death for Dumbledore and DD just couldn't let that happen or Voldemort would take over. I think the thing about DD pleading for Snape to come back to the right side is much more logical.

I agree would you DumbledoreistheMaster, Dumbledore pleading for his life just doesn't sound right to me.
