Hermione is a werewolf

Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

no, she isn't, in the 3rd book she wasn't actually making a werewolf call, she was impersonating it. it would be like anyone barking at their dog, that doesn't make them a dog

That part where Hermione howls only happens in the movie, not in the book though. I have just reread that section of the book (ch. 21) and at the point where she and Harry see Lupin turn into a werewolf, they make a mad dash to Hagrid's to steer clear of Lupin. They slip into Hagrid's house until it's time for Harry to go produce the patronus -- which at this point in time they are unaware that Harry needs to produce it.

So as far as I can tell, the part about Hermione howling like a werewolf didn't even happen in the book -- it only happened in the movie.

manticore, are you sure you read somewhere in book 3 that she impersonates the werewolf, or are you basing this on memory? I'm not rereading book 3 right now but reread ch 21 in search of this since Selene doesn't have her book at the moment. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but it doesn't seem to occur in this section of the book.

Let me see if I can find it prior to the time turner....
I'll report back if I find anything.

Nope, not in Ch.20 either. In Ch. 20, they come out into the open, lupin turns into a werewolf, Sirius turns into a dog...they scuffle, lots of yelping coming from the dog...meanwhile PP turns back into a rat...Hermione and Harry rush off to help sirius, his yelping stops because he is now back into a man and surrounded by hundreds of dementors...then comes the patronus. That's Ch 20 in a nutshell.

So in the book there is not a single hint of Hermione howling like a werewolf...it is completely made up for the movie.

She can't be because in movie 3 when Lupin turned into a werewolf she didnt, nor did anyone else, and she probably didnt get bitten in book 4 or 5

the books never actually say whether she is or isnt and they never actually say if she has had exposure or a bite... so.... we wouldnt know... BUT, in the night when lupin turns... she never turns into a werewolf... it was a full moon. so i dont think she is

no, i wasn't asserting that she did it in the book, i havn't read it in about a yearish, i've ssen the movie, so i was basing it on that and saying when she did it in the movie, and had she done it in the book, it would have been an impersonation, not a real call, seeing as how she is definatly not a werewolf

thanks divabeads

personally, i don't think she an animagus, she would have told harry and ron or ginny
and be an illegal animagus, no, she will break the school rules if she has to but hermoine breaking a law for something like this, i don't see it happen

yeah, she is not an animagus, harry and ron would know. i think in book three they said that the marauders took the better part of school to do it, meaning that hermione would have just acomplished it in book five. she is smart, but so where james and sirius, i doubt even hermione could do it in third year, and why she would turn into a werewolf is beyond me, i don't think anyone would voluntarily do that
