For my very first post at Broomsticks and Owls, I thought I'd answer (or try to answer) the questions on this thread:
1) Is Dumbledore a pureblood? I started to write that I think he isn't and that's a similarity he shares with not only Harry but Voldemort and shows you don't have to be a pureblood to be powerful. However...I wonder if it wouldn't say more if Dumbledore is a pureblood showing he made a different choice (as those are so strongly stressed in JKR's world) in seeing beyond appearances and superficialities...like the Weasleys do. Maybe we'll find out in HBP!
2) Were the Black sisters' marriages arranged? I don't think they were. I think it was EXPECTED and even discussed that all the Black sisters would marry purebloods, and that Andromeda (Tonks' mother) chose not to, thus getting blasted off the family tree like Sirius. I think it comes back to that whole "choices" motif JKR has going on...
3) How would Snape feel if Dumbledore died? I think he would feel he lost a true (and maybe his only) ally. We still don't know the true extent and nature of Dumbledore's and Snape's relationship in regards to why Dumbledore trusts Snape so earnestly. I think Snape holds Dumbledore in high regard, but human nature being what it is, he can't seem to find common ground with Dumbledore in regards to Harry. I wonder, if Dumbledore did die (and I hope he doesn't!) what Dumbledore might ask of Snape and Harry...
4) How many siblings does McGonagall have? She reminds me a lot of Hermione (or rather, Hermione reminds me a lot of her), so I would say she's an only child...but maybe she (McGonagall) has a spouse we've not been introduced to yet!
5) Which Hogwarts professor is most likely to have children? I really don't know...I read somewhere that JKR says Snape does not have a daughter, but she didn't say he didn't have children...
6) Which of the "good" characters will be the first to kill somebody? My guess is Alastor Moody, if he truly is "good", as when he showed Harry that picture in OoTP, he seemed to feel causalities were just a part of war...he seemed to express that pretty matter of factly. I believe there are other good characters who might kill to protect someone such as Arthur Weasley, Remus Lupin, and even Severus Snape!
7) Do you believe Dumbledore that he sees socks in the mirror of Erised? Yes, I think he does, and I think JKR put that in there because there's more too that then it just seeming funny. After all, House Elves think clothing of any kind is pretty darn important...and Harry and Ron always get sweaters for Christmas...
8) What is Bellatrix' and Narcissa's relationship like? I think, although we don't really know Narcissa well, they share similar views about mudbloods and such and that Narcissa probably knows Bellatrix mostly through Narcissa's husband, Lucius. I don't think they are necessarily close...just for the same cause.
9) The marauders' g1eneration had to traitors. Will there be one this time? If yes, who? Interestingly, I think the "traitor" this time around will be one of the same from the marauders' generation: Peter Pettigrew (Wormtail). He still "owes" Harry, after all. I wouldn't mind reading about a Slytherin at Hogwarts who wasn't automatically evil simply because wizards who chose to support Voldemort happened to be Slytherins...
10) Who's most likely to be homosexual? There's something I hadn't thought about in regards to the HP series. I have no idea...
11) Was the ominous Death Eater named Wilkes male or female? I assumed male, but maybe that's what JKR wanted me to do! Perhaps Wilkes is a female as we didn't get the first name...or simply because it seems strange that Bellatrix would be the only female Death Eater...
12) Who killed more poeple, Alastor Moody Or who?
13) What's Hermione's favourite film? I don't see Hermione as being much of a film buff, but for some reason, she does remind me of Kat from "Ten Things I Hate About You"...smart and having no problems putting stupid boys in their place.
14) Who of the grown-ups, excluding Hagrid, drinks the most? Aunt Marge is my guess!
15) Imagine the following situation: The Death Eaters suspect that one of them is a traitor, but they have no idea who. In some kind of paranoia, Lucius suspects Narcissa to be the one to give secret information to the Order. How does Bellatrix react? What does Snape do? Bellatrix, being as ruthless as she is and not seeming to care too much about what Lucius thinks is the right thing to do, might be so self-righteous as to kill off Narcissa without a second thought for betraying "her Master". She might even think she's doing Lucius a favor. Interesting asking what Snape would do...I really believe Dumbledore, and that Snape was given a second chance for a really good reason, but knowing a "traitor" was eliminated on a paranoid suspicion might make him all the more stealth...and nasty to Harry in Potions lessons.
OFF TOPIC: Looks like a fun place to post. See ya around!
