if harry was going to use a time turner to stop sirius from going through the veil, sirius would have never gone through it the first time because sirius would have already been saved by harry. does that make sense? just like buckbeak never died bc harry and hermione had already saved him.

I think there would have been too many variables. If they went back in time and changed just the slightest thing, then there could have been even more serious implications.

Perhaps Hermione or Ron would have been killed, perhaps Sirius would have died anyway or Harry might have been captured in some other way.

I see it like this: They were fortunate the first time they used it, it would have been dangerous to try again.

Anyway, if you really think about it, if they could have used the time turner to save Sirius, we would have 'seen' them do it at the same time i.e. like the BuckBeak story, and Sirius wouldn't have died at all. Therefore they never used it.

Exactly the point we were making, though you do present it well

I think that for the future of the stories, time travel should be avoided. Its too much of a quagmire to fall into. Any travelling into the past to change events would have already happened as Evil Wizard Petting Zoo pointed out. It also creates too many plot problems.
We are all sad that Sirius is gone but I'd rather see how Harry deals with the consequences of this rather than use magic to avoid the situation. In all the books in the series Harry hasn't had to deal with death. He's always managed to avoid the situation. Its a difficult issue to handle and I want to see how Harry and his friends manage.

Well, I think the explanation is rather simple: they destroyed all of the time-turners in the ministry remember?

Well said.

Think that's good or bad? A bit of both? :???:

Well, I think it's good because now DE's can't use it, and the good side can use the ones Fred and George made (if one of my theories is correct)

Well, basically you know how Fred said in the fourth book when they came back from collecting firewood, "It took you ages," or how Ron tripped on a tree stump? What about when F&G went off when the DE's came? Perhaps to meet their "future" selves.

An intruiging idea. I suppose it could fit... then again, time travel may be already over-done a bit.
Who knows, it would sure make it interesting.

Hm... I just think it.... odd, that she'd put that much useless stuff in there.

Maybe there sometimes needs to be a bit of useless stuff in there, just to lighten the mood.

Yes but Ron tripping on a tree branch? The twins mischevious grin when they told them it took you ages? Them simply running off even when DE's were around?
