The problem with boggarts is, that they are to easy to defeat. School kids did it in their third year. LV needs more powerful allies.

The question in recruiting an army is: What do you have to offer? In the case of LV, it is this:

1. Power! Many wizards would like to rule over others.
2. Shared Values! LV's followers have some common opinions, e.g. the pure-blood thing. You can call it racism.
3. Same Enemies! Giants, centaurs, dementors and others have been supressed by the ministry. LV will utilize and amplify this.
4. Fear! The undecided ones want to be on the winner's side. LV will try to convince them, that he will be the one.

Doesn't sound too complicated, does it? LV will have a huge army in a short time, I guess.

yeah, he could use them as a torture device..in a way. he could put ppl into that room and leave them their for a while...wandless or something like htat. but, still..i dont think he can use them in an army against someone, they dont go against someone, they just turn into the persons worst fears if theperson is in front of them..they can't just randomly follow ppl around. =\

The thing I want to know about boggarts is what they can actually do. Apart from turning into people's worst fears, can they actually do physical bodily harm to a person. If not, then all people have to do is just overcome the fear by realising it can't do anything to you. So you can just sit in the room ignoring it. I don't think this is the case though. Harry's boggart can still use some of the propities of the demenotr. It wasn't as powerful, but it still made Harry faint when he was practising the Patronus Charm.
Can a snake patronus bite etc.?

yeah i've been wondering that as well. i think it might be able to do harm, just not as much. i dont know. hmm, =\

Last post I actually meant can a snake boggart bite etc?..
I don't know really, they seem to take a physical form, and they must because really people have no reason to fear them otherwise, so they must also be able to do bodily harm....... it's quite confusing really. If a snake for example bit someone and took a chunk of of the person's arm, would a boggart version of it only take out a half-sized chunk...?

Wrong... people have a very good reason to fear boggarts. Even without physical violence, they boggart still takes the form of your worst fear, and this means the one that terrorizes you in your nightmares. It can dig deep, past all your defences and find what actually does it to you. That's what makes a boggart so terrifying. It doesn't show you what you think you fear; it shows you what you actually fear

If third years can overcome their fears............Well I suppose some people's fears would be harder to overcome so I can't really use that as an example.
By the way Tanuki, did you mean quote"even without physical violence" or "even without physical form" because, as it's been said before, people's worst fears don't necessarily take physical form. And nobody is saying that people don't have a reason to be scared of them. If you didn't know it was a boggart, one could be extremely frightening, and Mrs Weasly's... Well... No matter how hard you try, it's be hard to overcome that one.

That person failed to realize that the thing you fear most doesn't have to actually attack to scare teh bejesus out of you

And I don't think that anyone has the authority to tell people what they realise or not.
Reading it through again I admit it does sound like that, but if you read the rest,

Hmmm anyway, does anyone else thikn we'll be introduced to some of the creatures that are written about in "Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them"? Some of the more dangerous ones could be recruited probably.
