We've gone over that topic hundreds of times on the thread SPEW, I think it's in The Books section. It's quite interesting. As for Kreacher, as I think has been said before, a house-elf can only be set free if they are given clothes by their master. If all the family are dead, I'm sad to say it, but I guess the elf would just be left in the house to rot. It's shocking :(
I can say though, that that probably won't be the case with Kreacher. Sirius hasn't got any sisters, that is correct I think, but even cousins are members of the Black family. He was the last of the male Blacks, because all the females have changed their last names (ie. Mafloy & Lestrange.) Kreacher will probably in some way find himself in the hands of Lucius through Narcissa, and thus in the service of evil.
And yes, Siana. I am quite sure myself that Sirius will have left 12 Grimmauld Place to Harry, as well as all his other valued possesions (except maybe a few to Lupin.) Also JKR said that Harry would be having his shortest ever stay at the Dursley's place in Privet Drive, so why do you think that is, and do you think he'll be going to 12 Grimmauld Place, when he leaves early? I doubt it, because that was where he went at the end of Book 5, and he never really goes to the same place when he ;eaves the Dursley's.
Bk1: Straight to the platform on 1st Sep.
Bk2: To the Burrow.
Bk3: To Diagon Alley on the Knight Bus.
BK4: Back to the Burrow.
BK5: 12 Grimmauld Place.
I think he will go back to the burrow again. It makes sense, as he hasn't been there for a while.

It would fit the pattern that you have here. And JKR said it would be for happy reasons. (I don't think she used happy but I couldn't think of the word.)

ahhh i wasn't aware that that theory had been thrown up before on other threads. oh well thought i just been struck with a great insight

i reckon harry will go back to the burrow i mean he needs some home comforts, caring, nice homely atmosphere after the tragedy of OotP and the burrow is just the place for harry to recuperate mentally.

yeh, recuperating is top of the list right now for harry. plus, he needs to tell R&H about the prophecy. those combined, and the fact that the weasleys r the only real family he has, makes it pretty inevitable.

but anyway, 12 grimmauld place is now pretty much done for, i reckon. remember what phineas said, about sirius, the last of the blacks, gone? i reckon it means that grimmauld place is not in the family.

heres some thoughts on hte matter: what about the 10 years before sirius got it? it was not inhabited, and no one laid claim to it. it might have been that it was sirius's, but since he was in prison, it was just in limbo until he escaped. im not sure. if there was a will, it would not have been willed to sirius, probably narcissa. but it ended up with sirius. maybe the house is bound by magic, and passes to the oldest son? but then, now, would it go to the oldest sister? which one is that? im not sure, but i hav a feeling she might get it. on the other hand, this being an old, sexist family, they probably only go for male owners. or, mayb only people who have black as their surname. i dont kno. however, i think it is going to disappear, personally. kreacher might still do damage, but how is any1s guess. he'll find a way.

Personally I think, Harry's vacation will be short, because he will inherit a lot of stuff from Sirius, including the house of the Blacks. Question is, how he will treat Kreacher?

kreacher is mentally insecure, to put it nicely. to be honest, he's crazy. he's a hazard to the order. they cant release him, but he still can cause damage. they cant kill him, because they are good guys. this is a big problem with grimmauld place, and its usefulness. with kreacher running around and spying, the order cant do much at all.

back on topic, narcissa is interesting. she will play a bigger part, but i dont kno how dedicated she is to the DE cause. she didnt want draco going to durmstrang, and she isnt involved with the death eaters, as far as we know. if she was, she would like dark magic, and would not complain about durmstrang. plus, she would never send her child to hogwarts, if she could avoid it. LV would not approve, and it would stiffle her advancement in the DE ranks. so, im not sure how evil she is. she isnt as bad as lucius, or bella, but she is xenophobic, and looks like a stuck up upper class snob. i dont think she is evil tho.

Unless I'm mistaken, House elves are only there to serve their masters and Harry isn't part of Sirius' family so Kreacher is either free or will be serving the two other ladies who are closer to a family then Harry is.

Harry was Sirius' godson. We don't know what that implies. Then again, with the whole secret keeper thing DD did, we don't know how little Kreacher can tell
