Death Mix-Up?

Postby Imelyen » Thursday 24 March 2005 7:08:19am

Hey guys,

In the first book Voldemort tells Harry that he killed James first. But in book four during Harry and Voldemort's duel (think the chapter was called Priori Incantatem) when Voldy's wand started spewing out the echos of the people he had killed they came out in the following order: Cedric Diggory, Frank Bryce, Bertha Jorkins, James Potter, and then Lilly Potter. But if Voldemort had killed James before Lilly shouldn't he have come out AFTER Lilly not BEFORE. Was this just a mix-up or did something happen that caused James to die afterwards?

I'm pretty sure I've read a reply to that on JK Rowling's website. Check there and I think it'll tell you, I don't know exactly where on it, it is though. Im not sure from memory whether it was a mistake, or it had a point to it. I might have to check again actually.

Actually, in my fourth book, it was Lilly Potter and then James Potter. I remember because she said to wait, that Harry's father was coming

It was a mistake, and future editions were corrected.

I wonder when JKR noticed.
Probably after all the irritating millions of letters faulting her work she received.
