I dont recall JKR saying that Sirius was her favorite character. The one I've heard most frequently named as her favorite is Lupin, but have only seen in print where she says she "loves Lupin, Dumbledore..." and also the others, Ron, Harry, Hermione, etc. That's somewhere on her website.

Sirius was a character that left me a little detached. He was tragedy because his life was cut short before he had much of a chance to live it. I wasn't quite as attached to him though as I am some of the others. (like Lupin...now that's a doomed hero if I ever saw one.)

See, no one else wants to believe he's not long for the world.

He's too gray and sickly to be healthy for very long and people hate werewolves too much for him to be able to make a living, unless he returns to hogwarts

Yes, my fault. I re-read the quote and realized that it was Lupin, not Sirius. Thanks for correcting me!

Oh, I see the difference now. Though she did admit to crying just after she finished writing the part where Sirius died

Yeah I remember her saying that too...
I think Sirius is gone. Really, there must be some significance behind the veil that we will find out, but Sirius is gone. Lupin said it himself. He didn't even look twice, he knew.

Think that Harry will end up using the Unforgivable Curses again? I mean he already used one without thinking about it because he was so mad at the Bella lady who killed Sirius. I would like to read about it. It would make a story very exciting.

i would never say never but i don't think that harry will use the unforgivable curses again, it's just not his style, and perhaps after his failed cruciatus cure on bellatrix he's realised that it's not for him. he doesn't have the vindictiveness to want to cause someone else that much pain nor does he want to control someone or kill anyone. but i don't know maybe if he gets really angry again or if he has no other resort or something but i really don't think he will. i think he's above that base level of malice.

i'm really intrigued by that veil, i really want to know more about it but i conuldn't even begin to guess, but i think that JKR will reveal it's significance and it will play a part in something yet to come, but what ... :???:

RIP Sirius  (i love you...)sob, sob. he's so gone and we all have to face it. maybe we can have an online memorial service , mom can say all the sermon stuff...

No, he tried, but he couldn't use an unforgivable curse. Also, how could we ever look at Harry the same way again if he did this

Actually a Quad Post counting that one!!!
Someone should probably edit that.......... I think JK needed to show a reason why Harry could never use Avada Kedavra to kill Voldemort, so she used that scene.

yeah, i think that harry's failed unforgivable curse made it clear that he wouldn't use them , especially not to kill voldemort, there will be more to the end of voldemort, than AVADA KEDRAVRA green light swoosh, deadness. bit of an anti-climax. also if it didn't kill him the first time, it's not going to kill him the second time.

 There we go, I deleted the quad post. Don't worry, my computer sometimes does stuff like that when I post on forums too.

And I agree. I don't think we will see Harry perform an unforgivable curse. For one, they can't really kill Voldermort, and secondly, JKR has made a very clear destinction between regular spells, and unforgivables. I think that Harry may be tempted, but it's a line that he knows he can't cross.

It's hard to think of how he's going to kill Voldemort because he's done so much to himself to make himself invencible. But what about the death eaters. They are going to be trying to kill him. I can't think of how he's going to use his normal spells to get rid of them either. Unless DD stay's alive long enough and Lupin and Snape and all the others that might help Harry through his troubles.

hey i got an idea, how about harry gets a really big machine gun, and points it at voldie says 'hasta la vista baby' voldie will laugh like 'hahahhah muggle weapons are useless..ugh millions of bullets slam into his snake like body and he finally dies.

ha bet he didn't see that coming. or if a gun is too obvious i suppose they could stop bullets a la matrix just stick a bomb in the DE's lair. see that's snape's purpose to infiltrate the DE's to set a bomb. i mean if he's a potions teacher i'm sure he can whip up a bomb?

it's all so perfect!!!

Those things are interesting, yet still anti-climactic
