How do you type the Russian letters? Do you have a special keyboard?

I have Latin and Cyrilic letters on my keyboard and I have to switch languages in the system before typing!

Oh, and I have just edited the poll to add "other" option.

Yes, I've heard of that. Rammstein sing "Ahoi" in one song and so I've learnt it's sailors' greeting. Funny, Slovakia doesn't have any sea, how did we come to such a greeting?

I have also seen programmes that transform the Latin letters you type into Russian ones, but usually if we don't have a Russian keybord we just use the Latin letters. This kind of language or "encoding" is called "translit".

As for Ahoj, I also heard that it's sailors' greeting and it is an abbreviation from "Ad honorem Jesu".

there are indeed programmes to type chinese, korean, japanese characters based on the sound.

if i have to type good morning in chinese, I would have to type 'zao' 'an' and it will give me this two words 早安

I love you in japanese 'ai' 'shi' 'te' 'ru' -> 愛してる

Good bye: До свидания [do svi'daniya] - formal, пока [po'ka] - informal

All "o"s that are not stressed are pronounced like a variation of "a".

well, same goes for me XD I will try to remember it in Ukranian, will put it up later.

So are the keyboards massive? The ones with say, latin & Russian and English characters on them? Or does every key have three letters from the different languages on them. That'd make sense, and the keyboard would be the same size.

Basically you can install dozens of languages in your system preferences and then just press a key combination and switch to the next language. There are keyboards with 2 letters on each key and there are stickers one can put oneself, but you can also type "blind" without seeing say the Russian letters.

Good ;)

In french, we use salut to say hi and good bye. We say bonjour and au revoir (good bye) to be more polite.
