yeah, probably a little bird. This person in the last forum I was on kept insisting it was a phoenix. Too big in my opinion

Maybe a newly reborn phoenix? Actually, the whole order seems rather obsessed with phoenixes. I wonder why...

Hey, look at Dumbledore. Can you honestly see that man do something grandious when it isn't necessary. Besides, he likes cute things enough to go for a wee silver canary

Everyone's obsessed with Phoenix's coz they ROCK!! But I would say that...
Hmm yeah it's probably the silver bird-dart... thing.
I must say JK was very clever putting that in, but then she is a clever woman.
Wonder if it is something else though?

Btw, JKR confirmed that Dumbledore's patronus was a phoenix. Maybe there's a way to use one's patronus as messanger?

maybe, but all the order members have to be a ble to use it, and not all of them are talented enough to

Where did Rowling say that. It seems like a cool little tidbit

I found it in the HP Lexicon, on the page with quotes on Dumbledore.

I'd definitely call the members of the order talented enough to produce a patronus. It might be considered a rather difficult spell for students, but I think most fully grown wizards are able to cast it. If even Cho can...

1) I've heard people say that it was a difficult spell for even adult wizards in the books

2) Cho is not stupid. She is merely an emotional person who didn't connect very well with Harry. Lets face it, he said a lot of stupid things. She is still rather intelligent, even if she isn't perfect or suitable for Harry. I'd still like to see her continue in the D.A.

3) We're assuming that Harry teachign the class didn't have an impact on their growth as well. As we have figured out from reading book five, he is more than competant as a D.A.D.A. teacher. Think about the improvement Neville made, I don't think his efforts would have turned out nearly as well withouth Harry's help

Which I don't deny. But don't you think the order would have training as well? I can't picture any member not being able to cast the spell, they're supposed to fight Voldemort, after all.

Can you really see Mundungus Fletcher calling a Patronus? Besides, it is a pretty complicated spell just for communication. I think they might do something a whole lot simpler just to send a message

Personally, i do think the bird might have been the method, but i think it might be fawkes. that bird is used to warn and to notify people of trouble all the time, so it seems reasonable that it is the way they communicate.

Rowling said in her site that it was actually a spell, a simple spell that requires only a wand to be exact. Good guess though

ok, but then why would it be a patronus? patronus is a very complex charm, and i am very certain that lots of ppl in the OotP cant do it.

maybe it is some kind of spell that DD used to connect all members of the order, so they can communicate very easily? i dunno
