No. of deaths in book 6

Postby choki » Wednesday 13 October 2004 9:48:52am

Ok, so the second war has begun.
Deaths seem inevitable...but how many would there be?
Both major and minor characters count...
for eg...some passing characters like a random wizard on his way to Diagon Alley and got "avada kedavra-ed" randomly.

I don't think we'll have a "massive battle" until book seven but I do think that major and minor characters are going to start dropping like flies  Soooo, I voted more than five. :(

JK Rowling said on her website that she will be killing off more characters, so "none" isnt really an option. I agree with Pallas, I doubt that there will be a "massive battle" until book 7 (if at all... I don't know, to me a gorefest just doesnt seem like JKR's style).

I voted more than one. LOL, so techniclly, so long as two people get killed I'll be right.

I think that a Major character will get killed (Lupin possibly?) and I think its safe to say that there will be a fair few minor deaths. It could be more than five but to me that seems to be pushing it, unless most of them were minor characters.

Wow...i havent posted in a while. Anyway, it all depends on what you mean by "character deaths". Personally, I think there will be many deaths, but not many deahts of characters we know. In one of the books(i forgot which, sorry), Arthur Weasely and Sirius both tell the trio that they are too young to know the kind of horror that Voldemort inspired. The way they explained the time period, it seemed to me that every day, more people died, whether they were muggles or magic. "Every day, news came of more deaths, more disappearances", anyway, it goes something like that, i think its Sirius that says that, in Goblet of Fire, but not entirely sure. So for the major and minor characters discussion, i voted that one major character would die (that was my first interpretation of the poll), but I am sure that many more nameless people that we just hear about will die also.

ahhh... i guess my poll was not done properly haha
but it would be weird to read abt 5 major characters deaths in book 6.
more random characters would definitely be dropping dead.

more then 5 is my vote
They have to kill more people to make book 6 dark (it just have to be dark) As many pointed out I think that massive battle will happen in book 7.

Although, maaay be, book 6 will end with loads of people starting to die, so that book 7 would start in the middle of this horror. Who knows?...

My guess would be about 3, as, to me, 5 seems a bit too much.

My "death list":

Dumbledore. He has to die if Harry is to be a hero, I think I pointed out that theory in the 'what if' section.

Lucius Malfoy. He's definitely one to die, and just imagine how Draco would be affected by this (possible part of the action in book 7).

Family members of Ron or Hermione.

Snape, maybe, but I think he's more likely to die in book 7.

I have to agree on Dumbledore dying. I also think there will be more deaths, maybe some of the stufents will die... A nice thought about Lucius and Draco changing... Not sure about Snape, hope he'll survive

I think that I've read somewhere that Lucius won't die (it was probably just a theory, I'm not sure), because it can make people feel sorry about Draco which JKR doesn't want.

i don't know why i think this, but i picked massive battle. Probably because I feel JKR needs to convey somehow that LV's coming into power is serious business, and it won't be as serious unless people start dropping like flies.

JKR includes sympathy or remption patterns for Snape or even Voldemort, so why not Draco?
But actually, that's not the way I picture it, it's more like Draco starting an even more cruel act of revenge or something.
I think at one point, be it book 6 or later, the most evil characters will have to die, including Lucius, Bellatrix (<-- definitely!) and of course Voldie.

I know there's a jerjillion theories on who'll kick the bucket next... I really think the answer is: Molly Weasley.

I'll miss her, but I would not be a teensy bit suprized if she dies in the next book.

Anyway, I really have no idea. As I've mentioned in other posts, God killed my computer (lightning strike) and I get very very little Harry Potter news, except for what my husband runs across in class and lets me know of.

So, anyway... I'm gonna take a wild guess and say it'll be somewhere around five, but with only a few of those being main characters. And of course, there will be second-hand news of at least one death (there is in almost every one, isn't there?)

I think that there will be more than five in book six because JK said that things are going to heat up and Harry will need to control himself if he is going to be of use to the good guys.

I think that there will be a battle most likely at Azkaban when Voldemort sets his loyal free.

Athena see my post in the Great Hall under your post on the missing whiches and wizards thread.
