Throughout the 20th century we had dictators and revolutions with more or less bloodshed all over Europe. It is not so out-of-style. Sometimes I would like to have more of it... preferrably one without bloodshed.

Athena Appleton wrote:Hmmm... I hadn't even read this yet before making the Argentina comment, but yeah... I actually kind of like this. For the next two books, instead of things getting better and more fair, things just get totally black, then there's some hope at the end.
This has some appeal from JKR's point of view. She has to fill two more books!

Athena Appleton wrote:Just curious, because I don't want to look all the way through, are we sure the new Minister will be in book 6, or was the question worded as "Will there be a new Minister of Magic?" with no specifics on when (book 6 or 7) that would happen?
Fudge is obviously dispensable, even detrimental for the fight against LV. He has ruined his reputation, which is not a good idea for a politician. So a new one is desperately needed. The position cannot be left vacant for a book / year!

The more I think about it, the better I like this theory: The bad guys will take over. People will miss good ol' Fudgy. How about a "fair" trial against LV? :o Safe Conduct for a given time? This would mean, he could walk around in the public. That's gross!

But there's no for sure answer on that. I just went through and the question reads like this:

World Book Day chat wrote:miggs: Is there going to be a new minister of magic in the next books?
JK Rowling replies -> Yes. Ha! Finally, a concrete bit of information, I hear you cry!

So it could still be that there's kind of anarchy, or it takes some time before Fudge gets the boot.

I don't see this happening. I just think that he enjoys his privacy and his secrecy too much, and he's certainly not one to mingle with the commoners.

I do like your idea, though, that something happens, the bad guys really get some power, and things get very very bad for quite a while before they start looking up.

I'm thinking that the new MoM will be part of the major plot of HBP and will turn out to be a traitor that goes to LV. That is, if it's a new character because I can't see a person we already know in the ministry going to the Dark side. On the other hand, the MoM may play a small role in this book (subplots or something) and help begin arming everyone for the war.

I think its time for the world of harry potter to get a minister who won't mess things up, and this person I think is Amelia Bones! She knows how it is to loose people in the battle against the DEs and Voldie and will help DD and the rest of the DA and the OoTP and harry take down evil!

She seems fit for fairness and victory...

this would fit nicely in my little theory of HP=WWII allegory

Fudge after denying Voldie's return to power would be equal to Neville Chamberlains appeasment of Hitler...and then the change of power to the competent Churchill would be the change to the fair and gracious Amelia Bones!

I just think the whole darn Bones family has a lot more in store for them...

You've been reading my mind meg!! I'm all for Amelia Bones for MoM! I wonder if the wizarding world has a problem with women having power such as the MoM. But Bones would be a good choice - she's clever, diplomatic, and still made of tough stuff!

nevermind about wizarding world having a prob with a female MoM, wasn't the MoM before Fudge a woman? I can't remember the name.

Yeah, I really don't think the wizarding community really thinks that women are inferior to men. Through out all of the books women have held equal roles!
