Samantha watched her opponent with narrowed eyes. They circled each other, Sam forcing their motions away from William.
"It doesn't have to be like this. You can join us..." the Pusher said in a kind tone. Samantha scowled.
"How about you just let us all go home and we'll forget the whole thing?" her voice sounded stronger than she felt. The man stopped the circling and put his hands on his hips.
"I can't forget you now, Samantha." he said softly. "Dont force me to kill you."
Samantha's heart jumped in her chest. She built up every bit of courage she could muster, and pushed forward, knocking him off balance. He simply flipped backward and landed lightly on his feet.
"So much to learn." he shrugged, and pushed back at her. She forced the motion back at him, and managed to reflect it, standing her ground. He smiled widely. But then his smile disappeared as something seemed to occur to him. He looked up to the rooftop and then back at Samantha.
"Got to go, precious." he said, and he reached out to where William was laying on the ground.
"No!" Sam threw herself in front of the Pusher, and was caught up in his forward pull. Instead of William being dragged to him, Samantha crashed into him and knocked him to the ground. They rolled down the road, Sam keeping a firm hold of him, and finally he flipped them both over and had her pinned beneath him. His breathing laboured, he started to laugh.
"You try so hard!" he scoffed, holding her arms down and pinning her legs with his own. She tried to push him, but he was already forcing her down.
"Get OFF!" Samantha screamed. "HELP!!!"
"No one is going to help you. and if they do, he will have them killed. Now be a good girl, go back to your... lawyer firm, and stay out of this. " The Pusher leaned forward and gave her a kiss on the cheek, to which Sam angrilly shook her head, and then he was gone, moving in one motion toward William, flinging William's body over his shoulder. William groaned from the sudden movement. Sam flipped back up, landing on her feet. But the Pusher fled, bounding up the building, and out of site. Samantha chased him, maneuvering her skill to match his, but when she arrived on the roof; they were all gone.
"William!!!!!" she screamed. "William!!!!!" She searched the rooftop, hoping they had left him. Then she found it. A glass cylinder about a foot long, with a piece of paper inside it. She was shaking as she pulled it out. It read;
'A token for us, so that you mind your own business. Now. Mind the step on your way down.' No signature. Samantha looked toward the exit door and then ran to it, pulling the door open with her hands. The action of the door opening set off a bomb, and the building imploded under her, sending a blast of plaster and wood and brick through the door. But at the same moment there was a small voice in her head, it was Williams voice pleading. "Don't open the door." But she had, and then she knew she had to force herself back, so she pushed at the blast and sent herself flying backwards over the building edge. She was falling, and seeing the building collapse in front of her eyes as she fell to the ground. She stared at the ground now, watching it approach, and then pushed out, allowing herself to hit at the same velocity as if she had dropped from a meter, instead of 500 meters. She still managed to knock her head, and that was it for her. Sam surrendered to her unconcious.
