CHAPTER SIX
*****************
Flight of the Wolf
Meanwhile back in the Weasley’s kitchen Lyra Lupin was about to be filled in on what had happened since she had left the country almost sixteen years ago.
‘Well how much do you know Lyra?’ asked Mr Weasley
‘We will be able to fill you in on what you don’t know’ said Charlie.
‘Ok, well Voldemort’ The Weasleys and Hagrid flinched at the sound of Voldemort’s name whilst Dobby held his hands over his ears muttering incoherently. Dumbledore, Moody, Mira and Tonks didn’t seem at all perturbed by it. Mundungus had already fallen asleep. Lyra smiled slightly and continued on ‘Killed James and Lily, then tried to kill Harry but it backfired on him and Harry survived. Harry was taken to his Aunt and Uncle’s house to live.
Voldemort tried to come back the year Harry started Hogwarts by trying to get the Philosopher’s Stone through Quirrell, the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. Harry and his friends stopped him.
In Harry’s second year Lucius Malfoy gave Ginny a diary. The diary had Tom Riddle concealed inside of it. Voldemort almost came back. Harry stopped him again with the help of Fawkes and the old school sorting hat.
The next year Sirius broke out of Azkaban and went on the run after Peter Pettigrew. Remus was the Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor at Hogwarts that year. Harry uncovered the truth about what happened the night his parents died and how they were betrayed. Harry and Hermione helped Sirius escape with Buckbeak, Hagrid’s Hippogriff’s help, as Snape alerted the Ministry of Magic to Sirius’s presence.
At the Quidditch World Cup two summers ago Barty Crouch Jr sent the Dark Mark into the sky. Barty Crouch’s elf Winky was found with Harry’s wand and Crouch dismissed her. The Triwizard Tournament was played that year. Harry’s name was chosen by ‘The Goblet of Fire’. Harry competed in the tournament but it was all a ploy to get Harry to Voldemort so he could return.
Barty Crouch Jr took Polyjuice potion all year so he could pretend to be Mad-Eye so he could deliver Harry to Voldemort. When Cedric Diggory and Harry arrived at the graveyard where Voldemort returned, watched by Harry and his Death Eaters, Wormtail killed Diggory. Harry escaped and brought Diggory’s body back.
Cornelius Fudge didn’t believe a word of what Harry told him because Rita Skeeter had been publishing articles about Harry in The Daily Prophet all year round.
Two Dementors attacked Harry at the start of last summer. Sent by Delores Umbridge who hates Part-Humans. Harry was almost expelled by Fudge. Harry, Ron and Hermione started up ‘Dumbledore’s Army’ a group that learnt Defence Against the Dark Arts because they weren’t being taught any practical lessons. Fudge fearing Dumbledore was trying to overthrow him made sure they didn’t learn any practical Defence Against the Dark Arts. Dumbledore was removed from the school. Voldemort lured Harry to the Department of Mysteries by placing a false idea in Harry’s mind that Sirius was going to be killed. Harry went to the Ministry of Magic. He, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Luna Lovegood and Neville Longbottom battled with the Death Eaters until members of ‘The Order of the Phoenix’ arrived who were alerted by Snape. Sirius died. Bellatrix Lestrange, his own cousin killed him. Dumbledore arrived shortly after and battled with Voldemort. He escaped with Bellatrix but Fudge now knew that Voldemort was back.’
There was a slight pause.
‘That’s all I know’ Lyra finished with.
‘How did you find all that out?’ asked Bill stunned, his mouth slightly open.
‘Oh a number of people. Hagrid, Mundungus, Alastor, Andromeda, a woman by the name of Rory, my brother Aberforth and myself also’
It was not Lyra who answered but Dumbledore.
‘You’ve forgotten a couple of people, Professor’ Lyra said suddenly.
‘Yes I have. Sirius played some part in informing Lysandra of many events that had taken place’ responded Dumbledore.
‘And Snape informed me of many things too’ Lyra added.
Remus Lupin looked at his sister amazed then at Dumbledore, Mundungus, Moody, and Hagrid.
‘You’ve all kept this from me. For how long?’
‘I have been in correspondence with Lysandra since she left the country almost sixteen years ago’ answered Dumbledore.
‘Same’ said Mundungus groggily. Who by now had woken from slumber.
‘Since I wrote ter ‘er an’ asked ‘er fer photos of Lily an’ James fer ‘Arry’ replied Hagrid.
‘Sirius told her about He Who Must Not Be Named returning and Barty Crouch Jr keeping me prisoner. Lyra contacted me to see if I was okay’ responded Moody.
‘My mother has also been in touch with her since she left also’ put in Mira.
‘So what you couldn’t tell me that you were in communication with her? … Or that she was even alive? … Or even that she was okay?’
None of them answered him.
‘I asked them not to Remus’ Lyra finally spoke.
‘Why. I thought something had happened to you that you were … dead?’
‘I knew that if they had told you that they knew where I was. You would have tried everything possible to locate me Remus. When I didn’t want to be found!’
‘So are you going to tell me why you left in the first place?
She didn’t answer him.
’Lyra?’ Lupin fixed her with a piercing stare with a slight frown line on his forehead.
Lyra was about to answer her brother when the four Weasleys, Harry, Hermione and her son, had come from upstairs down into the kitchen.
‘Mum is it okay if we go and practice Quidditch in the paddock?’ asked Ginny
‘Yes dear’ replied Mrs Weasley.
‘Bill, Charlie, can Hermione and Axon borrow your brooms to practice with?’ Ron asked Charlie.
‘Yeah they’re out there’ replied Charlie pointing outside.
Fred, George, Ron, Ginny, Hermione, Harry and Axon went out into a small paddock the Weasley’s owned. Here they could practice Quidditch. They couldn’t use real balls so they threw apples to each other and as long as they didn’t fly to high into the sky they could practice. Axon was actually really good. It turned out he had been a Chaser at his old school.

Meanwhile still back in the Weasley’s kitchen Remus Lupin was waiting for his sister to answer him.
‘Lyra?’ She still didn’t answer him ‘Lysandra!’ he said more urgently.
‘I was pregnant, Remus. I really thought that would have been obvious to you. Considering that you just found out I had a fifteen-year-old son’ however she gave the distinct impression she was still hiding something from her brother.
‘You left because you were pregnant? … Lyra? … You went through a pregnancy all by yourself? … There must be a very good reason why you would want to go through that all by yourself? …. Lyra, you should’ve told me … I could’ve helped you … I would’ve helped you’
‘Remus you couldn’t have helped me, nobody could have. I needed to help myself and after that I had to worry about the child I was soon going to have’
‘Why did you feel that you couldn’t tell me about it then? About your son?’
‘I tried’ Lupin looked at her ‘I really did Remus. Every time I tried to tell you the words got lost on the way from my brain to my mouth and nothing ever came out, so I felt the best thing to do was leave’
Lyra stopped speaking. She looked as though she didn’t want to continue but she did
‘Lily knew. I told Lily. She was actually the only one that did know I was carrying my child. Then her and James were killed. Lily took my secret to the grave. Though I was still worried about you’
‘Me. Why me?’
‘The one who betrayed Lily and James and brought about their deaths was still at large’
‘Wormtail?’ asked Lupin frowning slightly at her.
‘Yes. Peter’
‘Lyra you knew who the traitor was before Lily and James died?’ asked Lupin
‘No Remus … I suspected he was the traitor though’
‘Why did you suspect that Pettigrew was the traitor and not Sirius?’ asked Mr Weasley
‘Well, Arthur is it ok I call you Arthur …’ Arthur Weasley nodded ‘… Arthur, Dumbledore as well as Remus and I knew that someone very close to James and Lily was feeding Voldemort information about the Potter’s. I wasn’t in the Order because Dumbledore felt that the spy could’ve been anyone. I was given the task of spying on the Order basically, because I can make myself not be seen so I could spy and not be detected.
Snape was a very great source for information, he knew how to get information, and I knew what we needed and where most of the spies were. We mislead many and bought James and Lily some time. Not much, but some.
I suspected Peter. He had become very strange a few months before Lily and James died. Snape didn’t seem to feel the same way, his mind jumped straight to Sirius every time. I just had an instinct and I followed it.
I knew it was not Remus who was the spy, so I knew it was either Sirius or Peter. Then I thought James and Sirius had been best friends since the start of Hogwarts they had been through so much together there was no reason in and by any circumstance Sirius would do that to James.
Contrary to what Snape believes. You can’t blame Snape. He does have his reasons after all. So by process of elimination I was left with Peter. Then Sirius escaped from Azkaban. I knew something was wrong. Then I just knew it was Peter. I knew he wasn’t after you, Remus or after Harry, so who was left? Peter.
So simple who would ever have thought it was Peter? Pettigrew’s attempt to disappear didn’t go unnoticed though. I had done a lot of spying. I knew something wasn’t right. I could smell a rat’
Remus chuckled. ‘A rat’ he said.
‘A rat?’ asked Charlie intrigued.
‘Pettigrew was an unregistered Animagus’ Lupin explained to Charlie.
‘I know see why all these years Dumbledore held you in such high regard, Lupin. He always said that you were a very valuable person to have on our side’ Moody told her
‘It has taken us twelve years to figure out Peter was the traitor. It took you Lysandra only few minutes’ Dumbledore said beaming.
‘My only wish was that you would’ve told someone then and not now’ Lupin added.
‘It’s doesn’t help Lily and James, telling you all know does it?’ She said shrugging. She stared at the Weasley’s clock.
‘I like your clock. It’s really very time saving if you want to know where everyone is isn’t it?’ she paused ‘But if you actually want to know the time it’s absolutely useless’
Mrs Weasley smiled. There was very long pause.
‘I have one more question?’ Lupin said to his sister
‘Yes?’
‘Lyra who’s the father of your child?’
