Volume 3 Chapter 7

Postby Paul » Wednesday 19 November 2008 9:45:31pm

In Eris Quod Sum, somewhere in Africa, the African Painter tells Hiro that the Dark Sun rises - soon if Hiro does not choose a path, one will be chosen for him.

Having broken free of Mohinder's constraints, Nikki and Nathan refuse Mohinder's request of one more sample to help in his investigations about abilities. Mohinder grabs Maya from the cuccoon he has put her in and escapes through the roof.

At Pinehearst, Peter's father asks for Peter's help in whatever he is planning. Peter, having seen what the future is like with a world full of people with abilities, refuses.

Returning home, Claire and Sandra find Lyle collapsed on the floor. Elle is there but she is not out for trouble - she is short-circuiting and needs help.

Mohinder has made his way to Pinehearst. Arthur removes Maya's abilities by taking them from her. Mohinder agrees to help Arthur to make Pinehearst's version of the ability formula successful.

At Primatech, Angela's thoughs make their way into Silar/Gabriel's mind. He is going to save Peter...

Elle has been given a Pinehearst business card. Claire too has problems with her abilities, with her failure to be able to feel pain. They plan a trip to Pinehearst.

Arthur asks Daphne to kill Matt...Morey is understandably unhappy about this but Arthur kills Morey!

At Matts place Daphne can't bring herself to kill Matt. Her thoughts, which Matt reads, turn to Arthur having killed Matt's father.

Arthur offers up Peter for Mohinder's experimentation. Just as Mohinder is about to inject Peter with a test version of the formula, Silar arrives and telepathicaly throws Mohinder aside. Whilst Silar is freeing Peter, Mohinder strikes at Silar, knocking his head on the floor repeatedly. Peter runs whilst Arthus stops Mohinder from killing Silar.

Matt uses what Daphne calls his brain mojo thingy to make Knox think he has killed Matt.

Arthur tells Silar that Angela foresaw that Silar would do terrible things when he was born and had tried to drown him in the bath.

Maya leaves Primatech telling Mohinder she doesn't think she could ever trust him. Mohinder explains that he was trying to help her.

Peter finds Silar and tells him that Arthur can't be trusted. Arthur comes out of the background and Silar throws Peter out of the window. Falling many floors just as Claire and Elle are about to enter, amazingly even without his abilities, Peter survives. Claire leaves with Peter but Elle still decides to go into Pinehearst.

Noah and Meredith have been called to Mohnder's lotf by Nathan and Tracey. Noah wants to take them to Primatech for tests.

Daphne calls Asrthur and tells him that "it worked" and Matt now trusts her. Arthur tells her if she messes up, he'll put her right back where he found her.

At Primatech (I think), Peter tells Claire he believes Silar eased his fall and saved him. He tells Nathan that their father is alive and needs to be stopped, but that Nathan needs to stay away from him because he is dangerous. Nathan agrees to call someone from the justice department but leaves to go straight to Pinehearst.

Knowing that Hiro does not want to go back in time, the African painter gives Hiro a disgusting paste to start a spirit walk....

--------------------------------

A nice episode. The African Painter's words were interesting near the beginning of this chapter - did he say the Dark Sun is rising or the Dark Son is rising. If it's the latter, does he mean Nathan?

I like the way Silar's character is developing. It's getting hard now to know whether I should be writing about him as Silar or Gabriel. Everything is telling me to call him Gabriel now as he really seems to have turned to the side of honour - risking his life to save Peter, and also saving him from the fall. He seems to have decided to become a spy now at Pinehearst too at great risk to himself.

Arthur seems to quite merciless, especially seeing what he did to Morey. One thing that I noticed is that just before Arthur mentally whacked Morey to death, Morey was in mid-sentence saying ..."Without me you'd still be lying in a....". What happened to make everyone think Arthur was dead and what did Morey do to save him?

On a simlar note, I'm still puzzling over what Arthur has on Daphne. He said on the phone to her that he'd put her right back where he found her but I can't think of what on earth that could refer to. I've been thinking it could be somewhere really cooped up where she couldn't zoom around, like prison, but she could zip away from prison easily through opened doors, so it can't be that.

I really though Matt was dead when he was using his brain mojo thingy on Knox - for those few seconds I was sooo sad as he's really such a nice guy.

Ooooh, and does anyone know what Eris Quod Sum means?
