Chapter 6

Heroes Volume 3 Chapter 6, Dying of the Light begins at the Angry Skunk Bar, just before the point where we saw Hiro kill Ando in the last chapter. This time around we see it from Hiro's point of view - he freezes time just before stabbing Ando, and goes back just to the point where he had been knocked to the floor by the barman. Hiro tells Ando he is going to pretend-stab him. Giving Ando a bag full of fake blood, and preparing himself by changing the real sword for a trick one one whose end goes in and out with pressure, Hiro returns to the present where he stabs Ando with the fake sword. Ando falls to the ground pretending to be dead. Knox leaves, followed shortly after by Daphne who is shocked that Hiro has "killed" his friend. Before leaving, Daphne tells Hiro his assignment is to collect the African guy who can paint the future, and bring him to the Pinehearst address.

At the Bennett House, Claire is concerned about Meredith. She is about to leave to find out what has happened to her when her mother says she's ready to go too - like her father always said "One of us, one of them"...her mum's the "one of us"! Meanwhile, at Doyle's Marionette Theatre, Eric Doyle tells Meredith that he will make her love him.

Knox has brought Adam to Arthur's bed at the Pinehearst institute. He forces Adam to take Arthur's hand....moments later Adam ages dramatically, then crumbles to dust. Aparently invigorated, Arthus rips off his life support system and sits up in his bed.

On her assignment to bring Matt in to Pinehearst, Daphne is waiting at JFK Airport, New York. Coming down the escalator, complete with his turtle in a cage, Matt recognises Daphne from his vision of the future, and they go off to find somewhere to talk.

Nathan and Tracey have arrived at Mohinder's place. Tracey tells Mohinder that Dr Zimmerman altered hers and Nathan's genes to give them their abilities. She asks Mohinder if he can remove this. Mohinder has a feeling they can be of great assistance to each other.

At a cafe at the airport, Daphne explains to Matt that Pinehearst know about him. Matt tells her about the vision he had and that hey named their baby Daniella after her grandmother. Daphne ask him to wait there - she'll be back but has some stuff to do.

Mohinder is has injected Tracey and Nathan with something he tells them is a marker to tag any unusual DNA. Moments later they collapse - Mohinder has drugged them.

Daphne zooms in to Silar's cell at Level 5 and tells him she wants to spring him out and that someone wants to work with him because Silar is a killer. Silar says he is not a killer any more. Daphne zooms a Pinehearst business card into Silar's hand before leaving him and freeing another of the level 5 prisoners. Silar tells Peter he needs his help. He is trying to be different. He thinks he can control his hunger, and if he can then so can Peter.

In Africa, Hiro sees a picture of himself getting whacked over the head by the African. Seconds later - whack!....After waking up, he tries going back a few minutes to creep up on the African, but sees another picture and....whack!

Claire and her mother have arrived at Doyles Marionette Theatre. Claire's mum tries to delay Eric Doyle, asking to book a birthday party, whilst Claire is looking around, but a clattering sound alerts Doyle that something is wrong. He marionettifies Claire's mother, and walks her to the inside of the theatre where Claire has found Meredith stuck in position after Doyle had finished dancing with her. Claire aims her stun gun at Doyle but he marionettifies her arm away and forces her to shoot the gun into empty space.

Daphne has come to Mohinder's place and tells him that the people she works for have worked out how to give people abilities. She gives him a Pinehearst business card. Before leaving she hears Tracey shout for help and speeds in to Suresh's lair of cuccooned bodies. Telling Mohinder that he is as bad as the others she has signed up, she quickly leaves.

In Africa, realising time travel won't work, Hiro and Ando decide to do things the old fashoined way by hiding and waiting for the African to come back.

At Doyle's theater, he forces Claire, her mother and Meredith to play rusian roulette with each other. Claire has the gun first and is made to aim at Meredith but there's no bullet in that chamber. Next turn to fire is Claire's mother. She is made to aim at Claire, who tells her it's OK and to fire the gun. Clicking twice on empty chambers, Claire's mother fires a shot on the third which goes straight into Claire, who tumbles to the floor. No longer concentraing on Claire's apparently dead body, Doyle gloats to Meredith and Claire's mother. Meanwhile, Claire has healed, and whacks Doyle over the head unconscious.

Peter and Silar are at the hospital bed of Angela, who is still unable to move. Peter tries to look inside of Angela's head to see what is wrong but only sees one thing - a DNA logo. Silar shows him the Pinehearst business card that Daphne had given him earlier, with the same shaped logo.

Noah has been called on the phone by Claire, and arrives to take Doyle to Level 5, stunning him first to keep him unconscious.

Tracey escapes from the shackles that Mohnder has put her in by freezing them to brittleness. She frees Nathan but Mohinder tells them they're not finished there.

Back at the airport, Daphne tells Matt she doesn't think he would fit in with the people she has signed up so far, as seems to be a good guy. Matt tells her to stay away from Pinehearst, and says her he can protect her but she tells him he can't.

In the African night, the painter tells Hiro that he was being tested.

Peter has arrived at Pinehearst, where he is shocked to find his father alive. Arthur asks him for a hug, but whilst Peter and Arthur are embraced, Peter screams and falls to the ground. He holds his hand out to protect himself but Arthur tells him he no longer has his powers - Arthur now has them!

----------------------

Eeeek - I definitely don't like Arthur. I was wondering what his ability was last week, and I think we've found out now. He seems to be an ability-theif - taking other people's powers and leaving them with nothing.

In Adam's case, it seems to have caused all those years of life to have caught up with him, aging him instantly and turning him to dust. I noticed that Adam called Arthur by name, which would indicate they must have met before...I wonder will we find out how they were connected?

Daphne definitely seems to be having second thoughts about being the recruiter for whatever Pinehearst are planning. Somehow she seems reluctant or scared to leave their employment though...what is it that they have got on her that is such a powerful hold?
