Renaming-Refreshing

Do you have any suggestions for this board or for the Broomsticks And Owls site?

Renaming-Refreshing

Postby *Riley* » Tuesday 5 August 2008 9:07:15am

I'm just thinking about the moderators for each section. Alot are not active, and havent posted in awhile so maybe refresh the moderators? This isn't my encrypted way of saying "Can I be one?"I just think it would be good to have some new moderators. :)
If they are active leave them , but inactive should be replaced. In my opnion anyway..

Now for the renaming bit, for the people that are inactive, make a folder of their stories that they posted in Flourish & Blotts so they could be in one section from the newer ones. Kind of like what Paul did with the RPG Vault, but not the RPG. I think we could name it the library.. So what do you think ?

I like both ideas. That way, forums can be monitored better. Except, adding inactive fan fics to a library would be a waste. How about you add fanfics that the writers have said are complete to a library.

I think that would work.
Not so sure about the library thing though, I mean, couldn't we just view them there anyway? ;)

I'm neither for nor against it. It sounds stupid to me, but that's just me. Others might like it, so I'm not taking an opinion on whether it should be named that or not.

It's an interesting idea. The creation of the New Members Welcome Forum was Scellanis' idea originally so I think any decisions on remaming should be hers. I'd think it should still be obvious to new members that this is a good place for their first posts and to be welcomed in though.

True, true.
If they say 'Entrance Hall' they wouldn't exactly know what it was, but 'New members welcome forum' is alot clearer.
I don't mind, but either way I'd be happy.

Yeah Entrance Hall is good but given the number of people who don't even find it when what it is now I think noone would use it at all unless maybe it was the very top forum.

Well, not insulting paul, or anything, don't you normally have the new members welcome section at the top of the forum, and the spoilers section closer to the bottom. Mind you, it might only make sense in my mind, and quite frankly, I don't want to step on paul's toes, especially when the ban button is only a few clicks away, but anyway, it might make a bit more sense to have spoiler sections, such as the DH sections closer towards the bottom, and the new members section at the top. Remember, that's just me, making another suggestion.

I don't think Paul's going to ban you for suggesting something Salemboy  Me thinks you're a bit paranoid.
I see where you're coming from though, if people accidently go into DH section or anything, it may spoil it, bottom does make more sense (Don't ban me!)
When is the forum merging anyway ?

I think the point of having the DH spoiler sections at the top was so that new members could see it right away and know that they had to post spoilers there. If they were at the bottom, they wouldn't get seen right away and there would have been a greater chance of spoilers in the regular section of the forum.

However, once the spoiler sections are merged, the new members welcome forum will be back at the top.

Yep that is exactly why they are always at the top, so its the first thing you see so that you don't accidently post it in the normal forums first. I don't know about everyone else but I hardly ever scroll to the bottom of a forum and if I do I mostly miss stuff anyway, putting it at the top where everyone sees it first no matter what their screen resolution is is a good idea.
