RPG Archive

Do you have any suggestions for this board or for the Broomsticks And Owls site?

RPG Archive

Postby Phoenix in the Ashes » Monday 21 January 2008 2:39:08am

Paul, the old completed and closed RPGs are starting the clog the Area up, but I don't want to move them to the Discussion forum, either.

I think we need an RPG Archive, a section where the old scenarios go for members to view.

That's a great idea! People could read then and it would be like a story! :D (Yes, I know, I'm stating the obvious... :-? )

It certainly does sounds like a very good idea. If you can give me a day or 4 I'll set up an Archive section to home the completed stories. :)

Wow. We are going into the Progressive Era of BaO. Raise your hand if your a Muck-Raker! Now raise your hand if you've been spending too much time in U.S. History!

Wow, this simple Englishman didn't have any idea what you meant there but I've just done some web searching and the Progressive Era sounds like a fascinating time in American history. I've been wondering if Prohibition was a good idea quite recently but hey, I guess that's another topic...maybe a good idea for The Great Hall Organised Debates?

Phoenix's fabulous idea of the RPG Archive has now been set up! I've moved all of the [closed] and [completed] topics from the main Harry Potter RPG area to the Archives, and have set the Archive forum to be Moderator-only posting and editing. Would you be happy to become Moderators of the new Archives, Phoenix and Q.Araignee?

Sure would, it'll just look a whole lot less cluttered now.

If possible, JUST in case the forum crashes (God forbid) can someone back up the archive on their computer? I'm devistated about another forum i was on, we wrote a wicked role play and now the forum has crashed and I was only half way through piecing it together. Sob!

That would be really great. I love the idea of having a whole archive of stories to read! thanks

It's OK, backups systems are already in place. Daily backups are done automatically on the server and regular backups are done off-server too, so that even if hoppy falls over a cliff, the forum can be restored. :-)

Hee hee - it's safety first with something as precious as BaO...it's been my aim for a long time that BaO will never die, so backups and backups of backups at different locations, and also copies of older backups in case the new ones get corrupted are the only way to go.

That is absolutely wonderful Phoenix. Seriously a lovely introduction to the Archive indeed. I really like the thought of it being a vault below Gringotts. I've changed the name of the entire area from just RPG Archive to RPG Archive: The Vault if that's OK with yourself and Q.Araingnee.
