Hogwarts '06/7

A home for old scenarios who may have come to an end for RPG playing but whose life and excitement can still be enjoyed in story form.

Dinas was in his office; the celebrations in Slytherin would last all day, and he would pop in later for the evening session.

But presently... he was inclined to just lie back on his chair, and sip a glass of wine. Even if it was only lunchtime.

She realised there would be no celebrations in Gryffindor Tower tonight.

SHe headed up to her dormitory to finish some homework.

I'll talk to the team on Wednesday at practise...maybe then they'll have thought it was such a bad game.

For Dinas, the rest of the day passed in lazy boredom. It was the weekend. For him, it was bliss.

The week seemed to drag on and on for Lily. All of teh Grffyndor's were subdued and and teh Slytherin's did not help. She had so looked forward to the week spent in bliss. Bwing patted on the back and cheered wherever she went. And her head of house not giving them any homework. Insisting that they took a break. but what was the point of even going to practice, now? She was no help to the team. They were bad enough without her. she couldn't bear to drag herself down to the quidditch pitch for practice. She stayed in her dormitory.

In each of the four common rooms, a small group was huddled around a large piece of parchment on the noticeboard.

"Oh my gosh!" a small second year girl squealed.

The Hogwarts team for the Interschool Quidditch Tournament had been named.

Misty grabbed her books from her trunk and looked at herself in the mirror, before hurrying out of her dorm.

There was a crowd gathered around the noticeboard. Her hert skipped a beat.

She pushed her way to the front of the clump.

Her eyes scanned the list of names.

Please?! she thought.

Lily forgot about her resolve to stop playing quidditch. It had been a rash decision after all. Who would they get to replace her? Nobody else had wanted to be keeper at the try-outs!
She joined Misty and began her search.

After coming back from the Changing Rooms after the match, Rowena had kept to herself an awful lot- not talking to anyone, doing all her work competently but without enthusiasm. So when the morning came when the Tournament team was announced, she approached the board just to see...without any real hope of seeing her own name there.

It was a large piece of parchment on the noticeboards:

The Hogwarts Quidditch Squad:
[to compete in the Interschool Tournament 2007]

Chaser: Mortin (C.)(Slytherin)
Chaser: McKay (Slytherin)
Chaser: Edwards (Ravenclaw)
R-Chaser: Little (Ravenclaw)
Beater: Burns (Gryffindor)
Beater: Flint (Slytherin)
R-Beater: Ferris (Slytherin)
Keeper: Warrington (Slytherin)
R-Keeper: MacGranstan (Gryffindor)
Seeker: Sharpe (Slytherin)
R-Seeker: Araneorum (Gryffindor)

The squad had one extra reserve for each position. Dinas believed he had chosen as wisely as he could; the exclusion of Hufflepuff had been unavoidable, as none of their team had performed well enough to break through.

The selection of Mortin as captain was fairly easy, although he did wonder about the attitudes of some Gryffindor member toward what would be a Slytherin captain. He brushed it aside; it would be a maturity lesson.

The starting line-up was subject to change, but Dinas was quite happy with it as it stood, though he knew there would be plenty of jostling for positions over the following few days.

Misty's Heart skipped a beat.

Burns she read.

The only Gryffindor in the full team. All the rest were Reserves...but she didn't mind. She suprisingly didn't mind about the choice of Captain, she knew it would be hard to Captain an Interschool Team.

She smiled and looked at most of the Gryffindor teams faces. She could see dissapointment in their eyes.

Her smile faded.

The two Ravenclaw Chasers selected had shone in their game against Hufflepuff. Edwards, the Ravenclaw captain, was the only non-Slytherin other than Misty in the starting line-up.

Unless there are injuries, Dinas thought, the playing side would reflect Slytherin's. Misty's experience and skill as a Beater warranted her selection to the line-up, but the rest of Gryffindor was always that little bit behind the relentless skill of the Slytherins, as it showed in their first match.

Dinas was satisfied with the team. He thought it was a good reflection of the talent at Hogwarts. A pity about Arven though... he thought. He just couldn't include her in the team.

The Tournament was in two weeks, the schedule due in one week. On Wednesday, they would be taking a portkey to the very stadium that had hosted the Quidditch World Cup 13 years ago.

It was Thursday. There were 14 days to go before 12 magical institutions of learning from around the world would compete for the first ever Interschool Quidditch Cup.

There it was, just at the end of list- reserve Seeker...Rowena could hardly believe it! Another quick glance revealed that Lily was reserve Keeper, while Misty had actually made it as a Beater in the main team. She looked around for her Captain, and flashed her a broad smile. It was the first time she'd genuinely smiled since the last match, and after feeling a bit daft about her recent bout of melancholy Rowena practically skipped down to breakfast.

During breakfast, everyone was discussing the selection of the Hogwarts team. All the staff were debating the merits of all the players, each head of house respectively sticking up for their players.

The Hufflepuff table was quiet and reserved, and you could see their disappointment echoed on the face of their professor. Some of them were grumbling about how "of course" Dinas had selected most of the Slytherin team for the line-up, he was head of Slytherin.

Gryffindor too was visibly annoyed at him, annoyed that only 3 of their team were in the squad and only 1 starting.

Ravenclaw seemed the happiest of the houses (other than Slytherin), content at their 2 squad members and cheering merrily.

She had a warm feeling in the bottom of her stomach as she headed down to breakfast.

She needed to find Johnathon. I wonder if he's seen the list yet?she thought.

Upon arrival at the Gryffindor table there were many Congratulations and handshakes to her and the 2 others chosen.

By the time breakfast ended, Misty was simply glowing.

Lily was thrilled. So thrilled infact, that she almost forgot to go to breakfast. She could have kept staring at the board for the rest of the day. Her face glowing. Finally, Misty had to drag her away from the board, laughing. She hugged her and proceeded down to breakfast.
The day passed in a wonderful bliss. Shooting a dirty look at dinas every time she caught sight of him.
