[Phoenix in the Ashes]

"Where am I?" Jacob asked groggily. He then saw Yvonne.

The witch! he thought.

"Urgh, ropes..." he muttered when he tried to move.

"Get These Ropes Off Me!" he said powerfully. The ropes tore apart easily, and he was free.

Back at the Blacks' Mansion, Alphard Black was trying to calm his beloved wife who was sobbing uncontrollably. He gave a long sigh before continuing.

"She is not a kid anymore. She'll be fine..." Even though he had put on a stoic face in front of his family, he was feeling unrest inside . He couldn't help but to worry for his favourite child.

Jacob couldn't help feeling a little... hopeless.

Could he achieve anything without his abilities? For a moment he wondered whether he should try to talk to the witch - but decided better of it.

The witch was a witch, after all.

"Don't bother doing anything..." Yvonne spoke suddenly as the young man sat up looking rather deep in thought. He jumped a bit. Her eyes remained closed, as a way to get rid of the headache she always experienced after disapparating. Both of them remained silent for quite a while until...

"So... who are you?" They spoke at the same time.

"My name's Jacob," said Jacob. "Are - are you really a witch?"

"Yvonne here... yes, I'm a witch," she paused a while.
"But not that type of witch that eats children though!"

"I knew a witch once," Jacob said simply. "Though she never admitted it. Everyone knew though."

[choki]

Yvonne was rather caught off guard by his remarks.
"You're... not an ordinary muggle, are you?"

"No," he said, "I am special." It sounded as though he was just repeating his father's words - "you are special."

[choki]

Yvonne laughed mentally. "He knows magic but has never seen a wand before?"

"Special..... everyone is special in their own ways..." she continued, using her father's favourite line - a line that inspired her younger self who was constantly overshadowed by her much more promising older siblings.

"You're wrong," he said. "Most people aren't special. But I am," he added.

Initially she had thought he was a rather conceited person to have said those kind of words, but his tone gave a tinge of uncertainty. She did not know how to reply his comments. The long silence between them was getting uncomfortable. She decided to break the silence.

"Care to elaborate?" She said, "About the witch you knew?"

"Mmm," said Jacob. "She was my aunt, I think. She cast my father under a wicked spell of hers so he had her burnt. Father says that's the way it should be," he added.

"She screamed a lot, too, I heard..." he added more, dreamily.

The young woman looked at him with a look of disgust.

Yvonne, a little flabbergasted, remained silent. Surely a witch when faced in such dire strait would protect herself with a counter charm - a freezing charm would do the trick. And he was actually enjoying the process of witch burning?

Initially her feelings for Jacob was neutral since there wasn't any bad blood between them, but this time round, Yvonne felt threatened. She needed to regain her strength and leave as soon as possible.

Jacob decided to leave. If the witch wanted to stop him, surely she could.

Surely though, he thought, they can't be too strong. If they can't even stop themselves being burnt...

He turned from Yvonne.

"Well, this has been very interesting but I'm going to go now, witch. Goodbye."
