Ian stepped through a random hole, the only sound was the soft mumbling of Steph making his list. An idea suddenly hit him, where was the safest place to hide? Gringotts of course! He ran to tell Steph...

Steph suddenly heard a knock on the door, it was Ian...

Gringotts, you say???

Yes, that's it...

*Steph runs and hugs Ian and quickly runs down the stairs*

As Ian and Steph aproach the desk, Ian mutters out of breath, "Have you seen a fire phoenix anywhere?" The goblin rose his eyebrows, "Come to think of it, I thought I saw a flash of flame somewhere-" Ian and Steph raced to the door to the underground, "WAIT!" the goblin shouted, "Yer not gettin' in withou' a key...

Morphena heard noises outside his... Vault. he was, of course, in Gringotts. The one place he was safe in. For even those that could find him, could not kill him here. Let them try... he was unkillable, invincible as long as he was underground.
Morphena took a deep breath. It was the moment of truth and he put on a nice-looking smug appearance, as his cell door opened...
Three faces greeted him. That of a goblin, Potter's son, and the Weasley girl. The goblin jumped in surprise.
"Oh my! My... It's is him!" The goblin started. Morphena put on a smug look, and metamorphed into an unfamiliar shape.
"It is Gringott!"

"Who?!" Steph and Ian asked in surprise. "Gringott," the goblin responded quickly, "our founder," Ian and Steph looked at each other, "I'm afraid your mistaken," Ian said, "that is Morphena." The goblin wasn't listening, he ushered them outside, but wouldn't let them leave Gringotts. He had called the MoM and an aouror was on his way.

Morphena had figured this would happen. The ability to change your appearance at will had for him advanced to even different species.
All he had to do was concentrate on the large statue outside the bank, and he had the mental image stored in his head.
Now he had the pair confused. And he would use it to his advantage...

Ian whispered to Steph, "I'm sorry I led you here, I guess I should have thought it out more," Ian looked out, "But all the clues pointed to here, I was certain I would find her here. And to think, this all started out as an innocent dance,"

When the aurors came, Ian and Steph would not speak, the were about to be taken by portkey to MoM when...

Steph...knew that was not Gringott, and was infact, Morphena...but that damn gobln had believed that it was him....ARGH!!!!

So with all her strength she posessed she, barged through the Aurors and the goblins, and stormed back to the vault, it was still open, she slapped Gringott in the face, and yelled "That was for killing...HARRY POTTER!!!!"

Everyone stared, at the so called 'Gringott,' drinking in what Steph had just said, the news seeped into their mindds, like water through a seive, people were paniking, horrified, and the Goblin apparated out of Gringotts, to warn the rest of the Aurors, whilst the two Aurors in charge of keeping hold of Steph and Ian ran towards Morphena...morphena had given up hope, and changed into his original form, devastated, and defeated...

That was the last time she would EVER look at Morphena Dumbledore's face agin...

His form was gone. His body was broken. But he was not dead.
Everyone thought he was dead.
But he lived on.
He was living no lie. Gringott was in him. No wizard can transform into another magical species at will without an Initiation.

Gringott walked through the hills of the mountains.
He stopped. And entered a cave. He was defeated.

Steph was wisked back to Hogwarts, the fear and excitement was gone from her eyes, the old sparkle was back, her long blonde hair started glittering again, the smile which had dissapered had re-appeared on her face...Eric, the dance....that's all she could think about...

Eric was waiting for her in the Entrance Hall....she ran and hugged him, he held her for a long time....
Then Steph pulled back and said "Goodnight, Eric" and kissed him on the cheek and walked senselessly and silently up to Gryffindor Tower...

The portrait stirred. It was early morning already, the students were rising from their beds and heading down into the common room. Gryffindor's resident portraits were walking around the rooms, annoying students and barging in on private going-ons.
There were blank pictures with no scenery for just an occasion. Only one room in Hogwarts did not have a portrait. And nobody had found it yet.

This portrait in particular had been dormant for over two thousand years, and Nearly-Headless Nick's head flopped right off when he noticed him strolling around the room.

This was the portrait of Gringott Smatlo, founder of Gringott's Bank for All Magical Money (ever since 2500 BC).
There was a legend behind this Gringott character, but only one man knows it, and he is certainly in no right mind to tell it.

Gringott awoke, and shouted (as all portraits do in the mornings). He took a moment to get his bearings. And carried on his daily routine as it had been 1000 BC. He barely noticed the new fashions.
Gryffindors, he reasoned, were much the same.

As they arrived at the entrance hall, Ian sighed and sat down next to the portrait of Gringott, "Why aren't you at the dance with the other hooligans?" it demanded, "I don't have a date," Ian said looking down. The portrait snorted, "I would have expected as much,"

"Too much dancing in my opinion, anyway. Chin up, boy, don't look so dull!" Said the portrait. "Back in my day, we used to do things a lot more interesting... I must go, I have, er, business to do."
"Oh, don't go.. -" Ian started, but the portrait was already gone, making its way up to the Gryffindor common room.
"He did have access to every room," Ian thought.

Ian racked his brain on a singal philosophical question: what is the difference between a portrait and the real thing? Maybe this Gringott portrait could tell him stuff.

Gringott had fallen asleep in an empty frame in a Gryffindor dormitory. The students just ignored him. A few were interested, but it didn't reach far enough for them to do any research.

There was no substitute, for a good night's sleep.
