Harry's Injury

Postby Mint » Wednesday 29 October 2003 8:27:56pm

Since the forum was down - I totally forgot I wanted to post this rumor here!! I posted it somewhere else and finally came across it to remember!

In the Leaky Cauldron and Dark Mark websites they had a new rumor for book 6.

"Harry sustains a minimal but lasting injury in this book."

What kind of injury do u think it may be and how will he get it??

Is it a physical or a mental injury? If it's a mental one it could be something shocking he learns about his parents past, which dents his opinion of them yet again. If it's a physical one it could be just about anything.

physical.......my be it will prevent him from doing smth ...

When I previously posted this roumor people suggested that JKR wants to keep Harry from Quidditch so that he can concentrate on other things - so may be the injury will prevent him from playing Quidditch, so she wont have to be comming up with crazy excuses for him

What do u think?

I also though, that may be he will get this injury if it is physical, while he is trying to get to school (i mean everytime he does - smth "tries" to prevent him)

Like in OOP he had the "guard" around him.....and they were saying that smth may attack them. What about now? Nothing really changed, Order of Phoenix is still a secret so they can't openly protect him....

I think JKR would be wrong to keep Harry away from Quidditch. It was his stress reliever, and he always seemed to be able to concentrate better WITH quidditch. Everyone needs an outside Hobby, and Harry needs something that's a bit less taxing than Saving the World From Absolute Evil.

I think, as it has been said in some other threads, Harry's personality is going to need to go under a bit of construction in order to put him in the mindstate needed to kill or even fight LV flatout. This began in OotP when he started getting angry, but even after BElla killed Sirius, he still couldn't do the Cruciatus curse onher, so maybe losing his "stress reliever" as you call it Meg, he could become the fighter that he needs to be.....

I think Harry's state of mind is right to kill Voldemort. He just needs to advance through the years and learn more magic and become a better wizard. I wouldn't enjoy the books as much without quidditch, because Harry would be constantly bad tempered and flying off the handle.

There are a whole lot of rumors going around . . . my head's reeling with them!

I don't think Rowling will keep Harry from playing Quidditch. Not only is it his stress reliever, it's also provided him with a means of escape, if I remember correctly. Why would she want to take that away from him? And I don't think that any injury can stop him from playing Quidditch . . . unless it occurs somewhere down under, which I doubt would happen in the books.

Maybe he suffers a concussion that leaves him slightly addled, or more inclined to be explosive. Maybe he gets his ear cut off. I haven't the faintest idea- there are so many possibilities and they're all driving me wild! When, oh when, will the sixth book come out?!

Oh well, the rumor was crashed. (just as we were getting started thinking of the possibilities) The Leaky Cauldron's website said that some reliable sorce told them that JKR never said anything of this sorts...

......there are just not enough rumours right now! They need to have an interview with her or smth so we would have something to discuss!!! :(

Mint, there are 'reliable sources' all over the place that may not be really reliable. Keep in mind, we don't know anything for sure until Book 6 comes out, so until then, we can muse about anything we want as long as we like! No worries!

But anyway - yeah, i guess we can keep it open for discussion!

Uhhhh.... ok.

Anyway, I think Harry will continue to play Quidditch, but it does seem that every year something keeps him from at least one game, or finishing out the season. Hmmm... I still stand by my Mirror of Erised theory that Ron will become Quidditch captain, though!

Ron will be captain just for the same reason he was made prefect...DD will think Harry has too much of a burden to devote such time to the sport...however this will begin more hard feelings between Ron and Harry perhaps presenting a torn friendship that may affect the rest of the story.

It quite possibly might be there to show that Harry does belong in the wizard world and the connections between him and his father and later on the connections between his father and ron
