By the time she finishes the young kids will be adults! :P I don't think Harry'll die. I wouldn't be suprised with a Him/Ginny and Hermione/Ron adult relationship friends forever ending. But I prefer not to speculate as it's less pleasant when you're right and you know half the book already.

ah, but it could also make it that much more exciting cause you want to see if you actually were right. and 99% of the time you're not gonna be right anyway cause that's just the way the books are written.

True, but when you are right it really sucks.

What if Harry's scar actually disappeaed years ago because of the help of Neosporin?? And all this time he's been drawing it on with a magic marker because he secretly craved the attention  ! It would explain the last word being scar... "Harry realized that it was love and friendship that destroyed Voldemort. Harry also realized that it was love and friendship that kept him alive. And on that day, Harry stopped drawing on his scar." the end. hahaha, not really, I'm just fooling around!

Really though, I think that Harry should die. I think that it would be a much better ending than him living. A lot of good things could come out of it (though it would be really sad  .) I think that when LV dies, his scar will disappear, and somehow that will kill him. But it could do a lot of good. It could bring Ron and Hemione closer, everyone who loved him would become closer, the world would be rid of LV, etc.

Harry should sacrifice himself for the graeter good, you know, be a martyr (did I spell that right? :???: ) I think taht would be a good ending. It would bring a sense of finality.

I know that a lot of you will probably hate me for hoping Harry dies, but it's just my opinion :)

Grrrrrrrrrr...I am so mad at you AccioNiffler...just kidding

Well, I agree. What better way to have such a complex and wonderful character be imortalized in both the wizarding world and the world of literature as The Boy Who Died to Save Humanity

Haha, I can see all those crazy fan books that analyze the hell out of the original book. The newest one would be called: From the Boy Who Lived to the Boy Who Died, the Tragic Life and Death of Harry Potter

Oh man...and Harry can have one of those, specials on E, True Hollywood Stories...only...True Hogwarts Stories (oh man...) And, there'd be dedication songs to him, and merchandise......wait......

Maybe JK will let Harry slip away *dramatic tone* just so no one can force her to write any more books...

Or maybe not...

Then after words honoring his memmory will beome so strong it will be come almost like a cult, and people will stop worshiping chickens, ducks, and garden gnomes, worshiping the memory of Harry Potter like a cult, ending up that half the cult members believe he isn't really dead, just chillin' with Elvis and Amelia Earheart (sp)...

"Harry didn't die, he just went home..."...hee hee hee, lol

As distraught as we would all be at Harry's death, its JK's story and she can do whatever she wants with it. I have no doubt that if the next two books lead to Harry having to die, JKR will not hesistate to do so. It's part of why she's such a great writer.

I definately agree Eol.

In a quote posted in another thread JKR is supposed to have said that there would not be any HP books after book seven. That doesn't technically mean that there won't be any books about Dumbledore, Ron, Hermione, or Neville.

Just food for thought. Correct me if mistated the JKR quote, I didn't go back and look up.

Will Harry Make It to Adulthood?

Eol your observations are always so, well, astute.

You are absolutely right. This is JKR's creation and she will do with it what she pleases. And those decisions can swing both ways actually since JKR, like all of us, and the characters in her books, is a "work in progress" so to speak. Just because she's said on whatever day she supposedly said it, "what makes you think Harry will be alive..." doesn't necessarily mean that two years from now when she's actually writing that section, or revising what she's already written, it will end up that same way. That's the beautiful thing about living and enjoying "a writing life." Anything can change at any moment depending upon the circumstances in the writer's life. I would say even more books in the series, no matter what she's said to a reporter on a particular day, is not out of the question. She is not obligated to honor her teaser interviews with reporters...she is only obligated to her publishing company to produce something they can sell and on a heartfelt level, all those kids out there who adore her books.

Harry is not going to die. I would bet my entire collections of John Wesley sermons and Nancy Drew books that he's not going to die. I mean, afterall, Luke Skywalker didn't die and look at the similarities. (misunderstood teen, lives with aunt and uncle who don't understand, has unusual gifts, mysterious family lineage, good against evil, has to be trained, etc.) :-)

But maybe in the end it comes down to this - Harry making the ultimate sacrifice to defeat evil. Voldemort says nothing is worse than death, but the evidence is against him.

Or maybe it is just willingless to give your life that will do it. And while the children (Weasley twins, Hermoine, Ginny, Ron, and Harry) were told some things were worth dying for, only Harry really understood. And Neville understands it as well. He stood by Harry without his wand or his speech, but willing to die to stand up to evil.
