Probably.

If you remember he doesn't really come into it until quite a way through the book, as he was sending an envoy to the giants.

I don't think the storyline for OoTP would miss him much, actually.

I reckon his narrative about his trip to see the giants is very important.

They might put that into the next movie...you know like they shifted shelob in lord of the rings so that they don't have to hire him for a small part for this movie aswell as having him for the next one....

I don't like it. I agree with Shelob though because it's more in keeping with the chronology.

Its not, the chronology of the books puts shelob in two towers hence to keep the chronology intact it should be in movie two not 3...

I'm sure when the Harry Potter movies come out if they have put Hagrids return into the following movie you'll be able to use the same argument to justify it.

That they don't have to hire him... :-)

Yes, I'm sure he was probably quite busy... It's hard, being a fictional character, to make a good living through acting... :D

Nah..., but it's wrong, actually.
They filmed all 3 LOTRs at the same time. They could have done the last scene first. They didn't do much in order, really...

So they could have done Shelob any time. They chose the ROTK. :-?

With HP at least, I suspect they actually film more than they actually put out on the big screen/DVD so that it secures the Special Edition Box Sets with extra footage in say 10 years time! They can't well go back to it as the actors get older

It seemed crazy to me that Sirius was reduced to a fireplace scene in GOF. Whatever happened to the chapter - Padfoots Return? They hired Gary for just that fireplace scene did they? I reckon he must have done more but they had to cut it for the sake of time.

I also think they may have filmed the World Cup stunts at the least and may add this in the future with further graphics etc. And before anyone says I must be mad, I know they did filming with Pigwidgeon but cut that (there was a documentary that featured Pig that was shown here in the UK before the film was released, it was about how every animal on the set has been trained and Rupert Grint was seen talking about his new pet). I was actually quite disappointed that he didn't appear as Additional Scenes on the 2-Disc DVD.

Yes, Shelob is in the end of the second book, but the books follow three tracks of story separately. If the three tracks of story were to run concurrently, as they do in the films, then Shelob would actually be roughly where she is in the films.

I believe a good example of that would be Peeves, who was filmed for the first movie, but I didn't think he made it into the movie at all.
