Reason behind your name

Postby Radha » Saturday 20 September 2008 9:44:15am

Please share the reason behind ur name!!

My name is Radha and there's a very interesting story about how I got my name. Radha is the name of a Hindu goddess. She's the main consort of Lord Krishna.
When my mum was expecting me, she wanted to make a trip to the Krishna temple in Mayapur, India. She was due within 2 weeks. So she wanted to come and pray. And, as fate would have it, my mum went into labour. Now ISKCON [the temple where my parents had gone to] has some very good facilities. So, my mum was rushed to the hospital there and I was born. A day later, my dad took me to the temple and gave me to the Pandit [the person who does the worship] and he made me touch the feet of the idol. My dad asked him to name me, and the pandit said that since he put me down before Goddess Radha's idol first, I'd be named Radha.
I never liked being called Radha earlier....but after I heard this, I love my name!!

That's a cool story! :)

Well, my name is Sarah and I was named after one of my great grandmas.

As far as my username goes, I just really like ducks.

My name is Kim...not Kimberly as most people expect and the reason is because my mum thought it would be easy to learn to spell. Hehehe

My username is Tolkien's elvish. Means shade maiden and was picked as a name for an elf that would live in Greenwood/Mirkwood (Legolas's realm though not his race as he has blonde hair and the native elves have brown hair, I forget the story of why his family rules there)

Salemboy is named after my dog, Salem. It is not named after the town. I've never been to Salem, Oregan.

Well, my real name is Riley so I just added the asteriks and I was set to go!
I just looked up my name meaning and this is what it said:

'Rye clearing'

Haha, but on another website it means:

'A Small Stream' ( Celtic/Gaelic )

Is Riley a common name in Australia? I've hardly ever heard it used in the United States. Although my cousins did have a dog named Riley once. I like it, though, it's a cool name.

I never knew your name meant snake, Fawkes. Are you a Slytherin, perhaps?

My name means princess.

Well, it's not unheard of. Riley is a uni-sex name, used 3/4 for girls and 1/4 boys  I guess I'm one 'em lucky ones. If I was a girl I would of been Rebecca though.
Wonder what Paul's username means ?

I asked him once. It came to him by a dream when he was under laughing gas getting his wisdom teeth pulled. He was sliding down a rainbow and fell into a pile of headless Care-Bears when a plane flown by Snoopy spelled out "Paul" in the sky and he liked it ever since.
In case you didn't catch it, I was joking though it would be hilarious if it were the real story.

I know a guy named Riley. He beat me in a grappling match once. He's pretty well-built, while I'm rather scrawny. Anyway, one day, I going to make him tap out.

I don't share my real name with people I meet online. Sorry, but it's a safety precaution.

I don't know why I chose my name, I guess it's just fitting being that I just finished the game. I was thinking of choosing some of my many Cowboy/Western nicknames but I figured this was more fitting.

I chose mine on account of Nymphadora Tonks being my favorite Harry Potter female character now.

seeing as I've just changed my username, I shall explain them all!

Ok... first, I was Distortia. I chose this name by randomly flipping through the pages of Deathly Hollows and picking the first word I found . It was Distort.. and I made it feminine. I liked the idea of being someone who distorts things and is bizarre and interesting.....

Then, recently, I changed my name to Ms. Elsewhere. A new identity, that defines who I actually am, and not just a fictional online user name. I love the song "Elsewhere" by Sarah McGlaughin, a Canadian singer, song writer. And the song kind of defines me a bit. Plus, I'm almost always elsewhere in my thoughts, no matter where I am or what I'm doing. So.... appropriate I think.

As for my name... It's Heidi. And it's really funny because when I was a kid my last name was kind of German sounding so people always called me Heidi from the mountains and all that. Hahah.... There's a band in aus called Killing Heidi, which means killing the inocent and sweet and bring on the rock and roll. Funny! I was always so sweet... my voice is even 'fairy tale' like (which makes it really hard to get respect as a teacher when I shout... hmmm..... ) My sister said to my dad, "Hey, we should start a band called 'Killing Janice' (my other sisters name) and my dad was like "That's not funny." hahhaha...

Anyway.. that's my story!
