Okay, this is starting off as a purely selfish topic but it might be nice to have this as a thread for our accomplishments in the "Real world" that we wish to share.

Just a thought. :)
But to the point, mainly for the non-Gryffies.

Today, I found out that I had passed my A Levels of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry with 3 B's. Not only that, but all of the second year Physics modules I took I actually got A's for. This means I exceeded the requirements for my university place and will be starting my 5-year MPhys Physics course on October 1st.

Basically, oh my dear gods- how on earth did this happen? I can't believe it. I felt sure the exam disasters of last summer and the January just gone would have left me scrabbling for the grades...but apparently not! The excessive hours of work have pulled it back.
Needless to say with this year's grades, my (ex?)Physics teacher is intending to knock back a few drinks with me before I move to Edinburgh- he's a darn good friend.

As are most of you on here- especially those who've read my rambles here on the forum, or talked on MSN, or both, and know about my fears and doubts. So thank you everyone.

yes, the party is on-going in Gryffies common room!
*throws confetti over here as well*

Real life achievement eh?
Lemme see... I just recently completed a 5km run (organised by a magazine with 8000 other ppl) and have signed up for the 10 km marathon run this Dec!
It is an achievement for someone as lazy as me, whom sits in front of her computer everyday!

My real life achievement is quite a life changer...
I sat a test on Monday to get into Accelerated Learning n my high school, and I got the results today, and I got in. They were majorly impressed. So now, instead of doing 6 years of high school I do 5. Yay!

Congratulations Q!! 5 years of physics...wow! You are more brainy than me, my mind just can't understand physics at all, its the reason I can't do applied maths.

Real life achievement. I'm waiting for my exams results now, fingers crossed. But I got Dux of my school which was wonderful, top marks in the year group overall and in five subjects. And I only need 3 more credits at top-mark level out of my exams to get NCEA Level 3 with Excellence, which is the top qualification possible apart from Scholarship exams which I'm not at all confident about.

Results should be out soon-ish...

I like that thought too! Well done Ms Elsewhere - High distinction sounds impressive. Now, what will you be teaching I wonder...Arithmancy, Potions or Defence against the Dark Arts? :)

Belated congratulations Q.A too - I think physics can be totally fascinating, especially when it comes to the strangeness of quantum theory and things like that. I don't profess to know much at all about quantum stuff except for things I've read in the past in science magazines, read on the web and seen on TV documentaries but it always makes me feel great that there's so much weirdly unknown stuff that is at the basis of this thing we call reality.

Good luck Phoenix with your results...fingers crossed...makes typing difficult that though:) ...and well done *Riley* for jumping ahead a year. Does that make you a time traveller? Ooops, we're heading back to quantum physics again!

Just my results back, I'm not too thrilled but they went well enough and I got Level 3 with Excellence which is nice. Did pretty terrible in Physics, but English went brilliantly, so that balances things out and reflects quite accurately the sort of person I am, really. Hoping to go into Law this year.
