hahaha...I rushed here to spread the good news too! Woooo hooooo! I just placed a pre-order with Amazon. Last book they shipped ahead of time and the box had special orders to the postmaster to withhold the box until the appropriate date and so I had the book the very same day it hit the stores...yippee!

I bet you're right Mint! Don't worry though -- you could wait a month of more and still preorder and you will still get the book. I truly hadn't expected to get the book on the "day of" last time I preordered through Amazon. I just assumed they'd ship on the release date and that I'd get the book a few days later but lo and behold it had shipped I think 3 days ahead and arrived in time for the actual release date. And when I went to the post office to pick it up the clerk had said she was so tempted to tear into my mail seeing I'd gotten the book. The box was clearly marked all over it with the details for the USPS to be sure not to give it to me early in the chance it actually arrived before the release date.

Amazons pre-order system ROCKS!

Why do you need kids to go to the midnight release party?
I went to the last one with a group of friends, the youngest
one was 29 and the oldest one was 58. We dressed for the
occasion and had a blast and the added bonus we had some of the
first 50 copies in our small town. We have already planned to attend
this party and now we have a date to mark on the calander.
YIPEE!

That's excellent news. I wasn't expecting it to be so soon. Divabeadz is right, Amazon are excellent - at least they certainly were for Order of the Phoenix. I left it until the very last moment (I think it was the day before the release) to order my copy of Order of the Phoenix as I couldn't make up my mind whether to get it from Amazon or a local bookshop, but it still arrived within a couple of days of placing the order. I placed another order week or so later for a copy with the "Adult cover", and that one arrived just as fast too. I expect they'll be just as well geared-up this time around.

Yeah, I don't think anyone can complain about HP books delievery by Amazon. Divabeadz - that is too funny!! Then again I would be tempted to open your mail too XD.

Paul - I wish we would have an option for "adult cover" here in US. I love adult covers - they look really cool! (i could order it from UK, but then it won't arrive on the release date o.o and I would go crazy during 2-3 extra days waiting for it)

I think they will get enough books to distribute to everyone. For last book though - they were still sold out of it in the stores o_o I saw parents coming in for the book getting "sorry but we are out of stock". I also heard that Amazon.com does not make any profit from selling HP book. Its actually otherwise - they are loosing money on it. Why? - Because the give you a great sale on it to beat other place's prices and hire all this temps to ship ocean of HP books on time ^-^ At least thats what I've heard.

Its not that I need "kids" its just 2 of my friends that do like Harry Potter live pretty far from me now and are too busy for it, and noone else I know is into HP  So I really have noone to go with (im definitely NOt going by myself) and if someone would have kids it would be convinient (lol, its much easier to persue a kid to go someplace then adult)

Your party sounds really cool Petal!!! I think you gonna have a blast.
