I've had song lyrics going through my head all day after reading this post yesterday  A few particular ones (amongst many others) which have come to mind are:

All we need to do is make sure we keep talking. A total hero of mine, Stephen Hawking, on a Pink Floyd track - an awesome combination!

Through a fractal on a breaking wall I see you my friend... Basically 'cause its the first lyric I know of which used the word fractal.

Should I cry like a baby or die like a man while all the planet's little wars start joining hands?

up eight flights of stairs to her basement flat - pretty confused, huh?

Punctuality was never much to me - being youself is the main thing.

People they come together, and people they fall apart. No-one can stop us now 'cause we are all made of stars.

"Isn't it where we .......... came from?" (From "The Wall" by Pink Floyd, the last words are actually at the beginning of the album and the first are at the very end, so there is a circle.)
Can't think of something else now... Perhaps later.

Apparently even the originator of the word fractal is not satisfied with his own definition so it's difficult to explain in words. Personally I like to describe them as highly (often infinitely) complex shapes which can be generated by relatively simple repetitive equations or something like that.

Ok, a picture would be better I guess so here's one I've just made....

I also like this song by Van Morrison:

(dedicated to Nicolas Flamel  )

"And it's a hard road, Its a hard road daddy-o
When my job is turning lead into gold
He was born in the back street, born in the back street Jelly Roll
I'm on the road again and I'm searching for
The philosophers stone"

Aww!

Which songs do you think represent the characters best?
I think Amazing by Arrowsmith for Snape.

Lyrics:

Kept the right ones out
And let the wrong ones in
Had an angel of mercy
To see me through all my sins
There were times in my life
When I was goin' insane
Tryin' to walk through the pain

And when I lost my grip
And I hit the floor
Yeah, I tought I could leave
But couldn't get out the door
I was so sick n' tired
Of livin' a lie
I was wishing that I would die

It's amazing
With the blink of an eye
You finally see the light
It's amazing
That when the moment arrives
You know you'll be alright
It's amazing
And I'm saying a prayer
To the desperate hearts tonight

That one last shot's a Permanent Vacation
And a how high can you fly with broken wings
Life's a journey - not a destination
And I just can't tell just what tomorrow brings

You have to learn to crawl
Before you learn to walk
But I just couldn't listen
To all that righteous talk
I was out on the street
Just tryin' to survive
Scratchin' to stay alive

To all of you people out there
Wherever you are - remember:
The light at the end of the tunnel
May be you - goodnight

Or we are the champions for Sirius and Remus.
