I've had song lyrics going through my head all day after reading this post yesterday A few particular ones (amongst many others) which have come to mind are:

<i>All we need to do is make sure we keep talking</i>. A total hero of mine, Stephen Hawking, on a Pink Floyd track - an awesome combination!

<i>Through a fractal on a breaking wall I see you my friend...</i> Basically 'cause its the first lyric I know of which used the word fractal.

hmmm...dur...um...i like the song by gorillaz...i think it's called shoeshine or something...

"Isn't it where we .......... came from?" (From "The Wall" by Pink Floyd, the last words are actually at the beginning of the album and the first are at the very end, so there is a circle.)
Can't think of something else now... Perhaps later.

Apparently even the originator of the word fractal is not satisfied with his own definition so it's difficult to explain in words. Personally I like to describe them as highly (often infinitely) complex shapes which can be generated by relatively simple repetitive equations or something like that.

Ok, a picture would be better I guess so here's one I've just made....
