I think we might try another language topic here...
How are the magical names translated into your language???
For intanse...
~ Diagon-Alley is translated into Diagon-Al into portuguese
~ And Leaky Cauldron into Caldeirão Escoante

(By the way... what's the name of that thing Dobby gives Harry so he can breath under water???)

I don't think the grammar will be that much of a problem because it's very similar to german, but the pronounciation is kinda difficult! I don't believe I'll ever be able to speak it without accent... :-?

Did you ever read my pm?
Do you have problems with words like Scheveningen? Schatkist?
I believe it's difficult for foreigners to pronounce the 'sch' part of those words..

I totally agree with you Gower.
The french name are not so good. But I won't say they are terrible

I first read the first four books and I wasn't shocked at all.
But after I re-read the books, starting with the fifth, in english, I really thought the translation wasn't perfect.
Well, I'm quite sure now that I will read book 6 and 7 in english directly.

C'est la vie, les traductions ne sont jamais parfaites, mais bon, cela permet au moins aux gens qui ne lisent pas l'anglais de pouvoir découvrir ces livres.

:o wow, caitlin you could speak cantonese...
I can't (knows only a few), even though I'm a cantonese (one of the many dialects groups for the chinese)

I can only count 1 to 10 in...chinese, english, japanese, cantonese, hokkien (another dialect...phew why are there so many)
