This post make me aske me a question, where did the name of each house came from? As far as I know, I only remember Jo saying that she came up with the names and write them down in the envelope of something.

The name came from the four fameous wizards, the co-founders of Hogwarts, they gave they'r name to the four houses.

Yeah but dude, she also came up withthe names of the founding witches and wizards!!!
The original inspiration for the names had to come from somewhere???

I also think that; because I've never heard of Jo saying towns, combinations of names or anything about them.
And Holly, thanks for explaining.

All I know is that Slytherin comes from the word slithering (sp), which a is meant to be a connection to snakes...and Salazar was a former dictator of Portugal who believed in the superiority of pure bloods...
But I don#t know about the rest of them.
