But the thing with state tests is that they don't count for anything. They only exist to see how well the teachers can teach the subject. So we should give them to the teachers!

Well, Regents exams are state tests and they certainly count for something. You can't graduate high school unless you pass a certain amount of them.

I took Terra Novas. I also took the predecessor to those tests, the Iowa Tests, which weren't only taken in Iowa.

Ooh! I remember the Terrible Novas. I think they have something new, now. Probably even worse.

I remember the Terra Novas! I only had to take them one year, but one year was two years too many.

They're these awful tests that take forever, and when I took them I barely knew any of the answers... I mean, can you really expect a 2nd grader to know what language is spoken in Quebec?

:???: In second grade, I didn't even know where Quebec was, let alone what language they speak. I most probably would have put down Quebecan. .

Also, I sometimes wonder who makes up the names of the tests. I mean, Terra Nova? Replace the first a with an e and you've got Terre Nova, a.k.a. Earth Explosion. That's a very dumb name for a test on academics.

and when I lived in the states, I had to take a test called the S.O.L. (Standard of Learning) Test. WHO WOULD NAME A TEST THE S.O.L. TEST, WHEN EVERYBODY KNOWS WHAT S.O.L. MEANS?

At least SAT and ACT don't stand for anything stupid.

Speaking of high school, school is back in tomorrow and I am in High School!! I'm so excited, I just hope 'the cool kids' who sit at the back of the bus wont notice the year 7 kid at the middle of the bus listening to his Ipod.

I doubt high school is that stereotypical. I went to a high school in 7th and 8th grade, and I didn't get that many problems. Of course, my school is a puny 200 kids, 1/4 of which are my grade, and another 1/4 of which are in 7th grade. So, it was hard to face real problems. And I don't have to ride a bus. If I'm not going to church in the morning before school, I'm walking to school.

Technically, it's a triple post, but I think the mods can fix that. . Anyway, my total population of my town is around 2,000, but most of them are young adults, so we lack teenagers.
