Oh I completely forgot about Scarlett! She's also one of my faves... so interesting and tragic, in a way. I love Anne of Green Gables, too, Pinkyprincess. It's really hard for me to choose only a few characters because I fall in love with every character I read about! And there are many of those, I assure you. :D

Favorite Character at the moment?
Lestat - The Vampire Chronicles
He's so, eerily sexy. Great character. Great series.

I happen to adore Lady Bracknell from The Importance of Being Earnest. Oscar Wilde was brilliant in writing her. Witty, yet, stupid. Great combination.

Oh yes, that's a great book! I love Atticus' wise words of wisdom and Scout is really amazing. She's so bold and intelligent! Love that girl! Hrm, I always seem to like the same stereotypical-ish characters: the strong, corageous, non-girly girls.
Here's my list o favorite lit characters:
~ Eowyn! She's so strong and angsty and she kinda reminds me of myself, except she's way cooler and more brave. And her + Faramir... *swoon* Oops, uh... you didn't hear it from me! Go read Lord of the Rings right now!
~ Grima Wormtongue. Poor thing. Always being bossed around by Saruman. *makes sad puppy face at him*
~ Edmond Dantes from Count of Monte Cristo. My heart really went out to this guy! He was about to marry the woman he loved, but was framed, arrested, and sent to prison for 15-ish years. He eventually escapes and seeks revenge. Great awsome story! Must read it!
~ Snape!!! Wow... *is at a loss of words that describe perfectly how awsome he is*
~ Felicity Merriman from the American Girls series. She was my first favorite couragous character. She's a girl living around the time of the US Revolution. These books are for the younger crowd (ages 6ish), but she still rocks.
~ Nancy Drew. When I was reading this series, there was nothing more that I wanted to to than to solve mysteries for a day.
~ Iago from Othello. That guy is a genious! He just uses his intelligence to his advantage, which really messes up other people's lives. Pick up a copy to see what I mean.

That's all I can think of for now.

ooh i have so many

Pippin so funny, brought some light relief for the other characters in LoTR
Andrea from Once in a House on fire very moving, tells of her horrific childhood and how she overcame it and made it to oxford uni
Lupinhas great compassion, yet is so composed and realistic
Jeanette from Oranges are not the only Fruit hilarious even though she had such an oppressive childhood.

Just a fact about the character Edmond Durantes...

The famous screenwriter John Hughes (Ferris Buehler, The Breakfast Club, 16 Candles, Pretty in Pink, Mr Mom) also wrote several children's films under the pen name Edmond Durantes party because he loved the character and also because he didn't want such elementary kiddie flicks such as Beethoven under his real name...kinda funny

and if this has already been posted it is because my computer is acting weird

Oh, there're so many of them! But to list at least some of them:

Dorian Gray from Oscar Wilde's 'Picture of Dorian Gray' (I know he's not really a good boy, but I prefer a bit more negative characters)

Steerpike from 'Gormenghast' by Mervyn Peake (now that's a real evil guy, but utterly brilliant, very intelligent)

Severus Snape

Lestat and Armand from 'Vampire Chronicles'

Alex from 'A Clockwork Orange' and some more...
