Editing and Deleting Posts

Postby Paul » Wednesday 8 January 2003 9:48:03pm

The forum has just been adjusted so that only Moderators and myself may edit or delete posts. This will give moderators a little extra responsibility to go with their position. If you wish to have a post edited or deleted, please direct the request to the moderator of the respective forum, or myself.

meep.....but it takes me 2 attempts to spell everything right....

i mean deleting...yes i can see the point in that.....but editing....like i said on another board....i bet theres not many people who can get everything right first time every time....its just gonna make regular members very self concious.....could even put some people of posting in my opinion

cos i usualy go for the post it then check it and edit it but even when im trying to post it first time i still make some really stupid mistakes

and the kind of stupid mistakes its possible to make can cause arguments....

i think without editing ur gonna get alot more arguments and general mess.....i really do...i know i cant post without the edit option specially not with frozen hands

and another point ive just remembered...ur gonna get heaps of double posts like this one when the person remembers something they forgot....

cos like u say pm a mod or u but people rnt gonna pm u and then leave the correction till u log in.....cos then probly loads of members will see the uncorrect version that needs editing...they r more likely to just double post the correction so everyone can see it immediately and not get the wrong idea....

I agree, I also need to edit my posts to put the spelling right.

You say you want to give the moderators more job, but a lot of them just don't seem to be on-line very often...

I agree with those two. I think members should be allowed to edit their posts as much as they like, but deleting posts and threads entirely should be left up to the moderators, and no one else.

And as far as the mods go...Paul is the only one I've ever seen around since I've been coming here.
