Favourite character?

So who is it and why?

Mine is naturally Bilbo, hobbits just appeal to me for some reason....always like Sam best in Lord of the Rings and I even went to the trouble of hand copying the family trees from the Lord of the Rings out onto A3 paper to put on my walls....I'm so very very obsessed with hobbits...I even have my own hobbit name (Kimmy Littlefeet) and appetite for mushrooms.

I tend to find I have stuff in common with them like the liking for food and giving presents and gardening and bright colours. I love the idea of hobbit holes too.

Mine is Gandalf, I've always like it. He's so wise and yet also vulnerable (e.g. to Saruman), very human, though he isn't a human.

I also like Bilbo, he's cute and I like elves very much, but Gandalf's my favourite.

It's got to be Bilbo for me too. I like him for being the reticent hero. He never really wanted to go on the journey but ended up leaving the lovely comfort of his own home to go off into the harsh unknown. He may have been small but he was a determind and faithful ally of the dwarves, to whom he became a true friend who put his own life at risk to save when harm or danger came their way.

I quite liked Smaug too. He seemed to be very intelligent and much more pleasantly talkative than I'd expected a dragon to be.

I like that guy, I forgot his name, who shot Smaug, even though I liked Smaug.
