Suggestions for July.

Postby Scellanis » Saturday 6 May 2006 12:51:02pm

Well we want to have this decided by the middle of May so we have time to get the book and read it so what do you want to read?

I have a suggestion, I'm reading it right now...I bought it because it was a signed copy and had a pretty sparkly dragon on the cover but its actually very good.

Endymion Spring by Mathew Skelton.

Its all about a book with no words that feeds on children. It switches from modern day offord where the book has chosen a boy called Blake to show its wisdom to and the 1400s when the book is made. I'm only halfway through it right now but its very good.

I don't know... "The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood? It's a very dark book though.

so Eragon is the sequel, maybe we ought to read Eldest then not Eragon...I know I'd rather start with the first in the series....

Still think I may go with Endymion Spring for this month though, its really good, I'm over half way through it now and its also about dragons.

ok

Hmm...given that I haven't managed to get hold of Eragon yet and I haven't started reading Inkheart yet either I think I shall choose....

Endymion Spring by Mathew Skelton for July.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... 53-2019951

Synopsis:

"In the dead of night, a cloaked figure drags a heavy box through snow-covered streets. The chest, covered in images of mythical beasts, can only be opened when the fangs of its serpent's-head clasp taste blood.
Centuries later, in an Oxford library, a boy touches a strange book and feels something pierce his finger. The volume is blank, wordless, but its paper has fine veins running through it and seems to quiver, as if it's alive. Words begin to appear on the page - words no one but the boy can see."

And don;t forget...the book cover is a shiny dragon!!!

I read a book called the Calafornia Club which was really good. It's about best friends getting to know one another better.

a book for the future that i would recommend would be any of the garth nix books: either the sabriel/lirael/abhorsen series or the keys to the kingdom series. they both are incredibly inventive: the abhorsen series is slightly more realistic, while the keys series is a bit crazy at times, but still fun!

i agree with lioness about eragorn or eldest: both are very good books... mayb it would be better to start with eragorn, as it is the first in the series...
