Kreacher

Who do you like best and who could you definately live without? Will there be romance in the air for any of them and who will end up with who?

Kreacher

I thought the change in Kreacher over the book was done very well. I especially thought the way that he told the story of Voldemort's locket was done very cleverly... his loyalty to Regulus was mammoth.

Eh, people are gonna hate me for saying this but Kreacher is my favourite house-elf.

Kinda makes you think if Sirius was nicer to him Grimauld place wouldnt have been such a bad place for him to live and he wouldnt of been so keen to leave the house and wouldnt be dead.
He was a nice elf deep down and all he needed was someone to be nice to him and he was normal again. (well like a normal house elf)

I liked that part too. I think it really showed that Hermione was right all along with the house-elf rights. If you treat them well, like they are living things, they will be much more pleasant.

I just read an interesting theory... it's possible that when Harry gave Kreacher the old locket, it counted as clothing an thus set Kreacher free! So from that point on, he's following Harry of his own will!

I don't buy into that theory myslef, but I'd love to hear JKR's perspective on it.

I do like that theory Night, but don't think it's the case since jewelry generally isn't considered an article of clothing. Good thought none the less!

Bit confusing though

Postby DDforever » Friday 3 August 2007 10:54:37pm

I thought the whole change of personality was a bit confusing though. I guess I don't understand the mind of a house elf any better for reading book 7.

I liked Kreacher too. As creepy as he was I thought he was interesting, I always wondered what he was up to and why DD was so keen to be good to him, well aside from the fact that he knew where the order was.

I especially liked the part where he was set to help beat up Mundungus and of course when he led the army of house elves at the battle for Hogwarts.

I felt so bad for the adventurous trio when they had to leave Grimmould place because of Yaxley. I secretly like to think that they moved back in there and maybe that Kreacher ended up helping them to make it into a really nice home. I think it would have really drove the Black's nuts to see that happen. :D

Kreacher was given a better respect in my book after he came around. But I'm still mad about Sirius. He seemed like the bad guy in book 7 :(

Now that would have been excellent!

I felt sick for Kreacher, no wonder he was in such a bad mood all the time after all he'd been through. How could they put up with that. I wonder if their kind are more free now that the war happened and the purebloods got put in their place. Hmmm.... I expect there would still be some 'slaves' in wizarding households.
