Hogwarts destroyed?

Who do you like best and who could you definately live without? Will there be romance in the air for any of them and who will end up with who?

Hogwarts destroyed?

Postby Mistress Siana » Sunday 23 January 2005 11:32:41pm

The characterisation of Dumbledore in the Harry Potter lexion says that, according to McGonagall, Dumbledore once made a prophecy that Hogwarts would be destroyed. I don't remember that part, and it makes me crazy. I cannot find it! Can anyone tell me what they're talking about?

I found it. Stupid thing, really. It in CoS, when Harry and Ron overhear a conversation in which McGonagall reaveals to the other teachers that Ginny has been taken. Her words are these:

"This is the end of Hogwarts. Dumbledore has alway said..." she's interrupted, then.

The HP lexicon interprets it as a prophecy made by Dumbledore. How stupid! Then again, they list Aberforth as the bartender of the Hog's Inn, which is just a theory that's never been confirmed. I guess I have to reconsider using them as my favourite source of information.

I've read so many rumours and theories that the only stuff I ever take seriously is the stuff on JK's website, something JK's posted on a website, something JK's said somewhere, or the books, which less and less people or refering to now that the movies are available.
There's so many speculations :o It's fun making your own though lol.

Oh, speculating is my hobby! But I hate it when people claim their speculation as truth.

I think that JKR has confirmed this in an interview... But I don't remember which one it was and I woud still speculate, because it wasn't 100% you're right or you aren't right and with her one can never known... :-)

It's a website that is one of the three authorities on Harry Potter. They are even mentioned in her personal website. It's is one of the most extensive fan collections of theories and data on HP.

It's also where I found the essay that started me on Harry/Hermione

It's rather useful if you want to look up, say, exactly how many Death Eaters have been confirmed as killed by Aurors. You would have to read through all 5 books otherwise. But, as I've just experienced, be carefull with the conclusions they draw.

Ok. Sites like that, apart from them being very good and having tonnes of great info, do tend to bend the truth a little don't they lol. They take a lot of precautions so don't don't actually lie. But they do bend. I'll be careful.

i must agree, they do bend the rules, and the truth. but I really don't think that the prophecy was dumbledore's, it wouls just be like saying that the place where he calls home was just another accident waiting to happen... and it would all of the fun i am having with the idea that hogwarts will be around forever.
