How we could we forget the Weasley twins?

They had some great scenes in book 5, most memorably riding out of Hogwarts on their brooms. I was a bit surprised they were at the train station waiting with their parents for everyone to return from Hogwarts. I was even more surprised that Mr. and Mrs. Weasley never seemed to have a reaction. Maybe too much was going on for them to have one, but I still think that issue will come back up, as well as where (or rather, who) the money came from to start the joke shop . . .

Since Fred and George were in their 7th year, and they 'quit' school, will we see them in the next book running a joke shop or will they come back to repeat their 7th year, forced by their parents? Can they even do that? It'll be sad to have a book without the Weasley twins, so I hope they get put in somewhere!

Someone else mentioned, in another thread, that they think, of all the Weasleys, it'll be the twins who take the hardest line with Percy. I believe that...if Percy manages to suck it up and ask for forgiveness from his family, he'll have to work even harder to gain the twins' acceptance, if they ever decide to give it to him. I'll be interested to see what happens with that in the next few books.

The twins lucked out, getting Ron as one of the prefects for Gryffndor--he clearly didn't want to discipline them! The twins sure did give Ron a hard time, even on the Quidditch field. Maybe because Percy is only two years older and Ron is only two years younger, Percy and Ron are close enough in age to get on their nerves. However, deep down, I think they are very loyal to their family members, which is probably why Percy's betrayal hurts so much . . .

What do you think of the twins? Their roles in book 5 and future books? Anything new we learned about them? Do share!

I have no doubt that Fred and George will keep appearing in the books (after all, Percy did after he left Hogwarts; so did Oliver Wood). Besides, they owe Harry big time for his financial backing of their joke shop.

While I think Mr. and Mrs. Weasley are probably disappointed that George and Fred left school without completing their 7th year, and opened a joke shop instead of going into the ministry, they'll probably come to realize that the twins ARE adults, and can make their own decisions. Besides, the first Weasley boy to enter the ministry (Percy) took off in a direction that hurt them immensely. You have to admit, they found a career they love.

Given their behavior at the end of the book, it looks like they've accepted it (and Harry's part in it, which allowed them to leave school and open the shop). Plus, they can't argue with how well the twins are doing at their shop; dragon-skin jackets already. It's hard to argue with success.

Mr and Mrs W cant' make them go back and repeat 7th yr.. remember, Fred and George are 'of age' thus are technically adults, and able to make their own decisions... they would ask them, even beg *or yell more liek Mrs W* but they cant' make them go back!

Holly is right, Mr Weasley says that to Molly to the beggining, they are now adults and can take their own choices.
And surely Mr and Mrs W. won't be mad with the twins by now, I eman at first surely, but once the shop was a success then they must admit the twins knew what they were doing.

True, on all counts, about the Weasley parents not forcing them to do anything...I daresay, after the fall-out with Percy, they're probably a little more careful in how they approach their kids and deal with them.

Any ideas where this joke shop of the Weasley twins is? Is it in Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade or some other place? I can see Harry and friends going in and visiting them, particularly if it's in Hogsmeade, and the Hogwarts students go to visit there on the weekends.

I'll miss the Weasleys, too...they kept things fun! I also wonder how many spots will now be open on the Quidditch team with the twins gone and the 7th years having graduated. Can alumni of Hogwarts come back and watch the Quidditch matches? I wonder if the twins would do that, to see how the new team is doing. I'm sure J.K. Rowling will find lots of inventive ways to bring back the twins in realistic ways.

Does anyone think Mrs. Weasley will hate Harry for giving the twins the TriWizard money? I don't think Mr. Weasley will, just look at the car in CoS (where he asked them how it flew).

I doubt that Mrs. Weasley will get mad at Harry. Afterall, where else would the twins work? Like Harry pointed out in the 4th book, Mrs. Weasley prob. wouldn't be too fond of the boys joining the ministry. And if they didn't take their N.E.W.T.s, then they don't have a lot of options. If I were Mrs. Weasley, I would feel v. greatful. Hopefully, the twins will be able to the OoP, now that they are full wizards. That'd be cool.

I think that Mrs. Weasley was probably upset with the boys at first for leaving shool, but once she sees how succesful they are, maybe she'll realize that that they are actually very smart and clever . Just because they didn't get as many O.W.L.s as she wanted them to doesnt mean that they arent great wizards

I really don't think that the Weasley's will be mad at their sons. We know for a fact that they were completely against the Inquisition of Hogwarts be the MoM, so I can almost being proud of their sons for standing up to it! And even if the Weasleys were to get mad at the twins, we know that Mrs. Weasley loves them too dearly to stay angry for a long period of time. For example, no mateer how horrid of a thing Percy did, Mrs. Weasley still feared for his death.

Oh, and the escape! Excellent. The twins definitely ranked high in the sock rocking department for that one!

Weasly Twins rock! They are so adorable. Yep we won't see the last of them.. i think their inventions will come in handy for the future books.... imagine Voldy and his followers got one of the Twins' invention like the nose bleed. that would be funny

Yep I agree. Flitwick even mentioned that the magic they had used for the swamp in the hallway was really good, so if they improve their skills even more, who knows what fabulous things they come up with.

What would really help the order? Something to stop the AK-curse would come in nice, but that's probably a bit too much even for George and Fred : ) !

Actually, one of the things we've learned is that it doesn't take complicated magic to achieve spectacular results. Great examples are in book 4, where Harry stunned everybody in the Triwizard tournament. He didn't need to transfigure rocks into dogs to get past the dragon, all he needed was a summoning spell and a broomstick. He didn't need bubble-head charms or to transfigure himself to get his hostage from the merfolk, he used gillyweed root (which was actually the most effective method).

Ron told Harry once that Fred and George got really good marks, even if they were class clowns. Their products are unusual and effective, which shows they are putting their talents to creative use (even Hermoine was impressed by their invisibility hats; since invisibility cloaks are supposed to be rare and valuable, it wouldn't be much of a stretch to think they might be able to figure out a way to produce them in good numbers. They'll get rich on that alone). It wouldn't be hard to imagine Harry and company, ambushed by a death eater after picking up a number of their products, stalling them with portable swamps; etc.
