I think that the problem of Fudge and DD is just because Fudge doesn't like muggles too much, I remember DD telling him that he cared too much about "pure blood", no? (of course that could be a hint for believing Fudge as a DE, still I think that Snape would know it)

Yeah, good point. He's definitely an elitist and does look down up on people like the Weasley's because of their association with Muggles. And, it would definitely shed some light on his association with Voldemort. who is the most evident 'pure-blood lover' of them all!
And another thing that I think discredits him is the fact that he's really the only person in the books that doesn't seem to be that fond of Harry. Even though some people don't seem to like him, like Snape and Draco, no one seems to truly speak out against him or completely not believe what he says. It just all seems v. suspicious.

Blaise, were you talking about Fudge that doesnt' seem to be fond of Harry, becuase he was, untill he read that article by Rita Skeeter... Remember, Harry said that he treated him like a uncle or something...>?

Also, I dont' think that Fudge is actually a DE, just an informant. And I dont' think that Voldie told his DE's about all his informants... which would explain why Snape didnt' know about Peter *note, if he did, then Snape would have known that Sirius was innosent* And Peter was passing info to Voldie ages before the Potters were killed, so if Voldie did tell him DE's who the informants were, Snape should have known...

Voldie would have been kinds stupid to trust all him info to everyone of his DE's... and stuff like informants, I dont' think that he would have told anyone, even the high-up DE's...

I still have the impression that what Snape knows and what he gives away are too very different things...remember Avary and the Lestranges??

Yeah, that's one of the few really good points that make me question Snape's loyatly... Why hasn't he told DD etc about Avery, Macnair etc etc being DE's and have them put away???

Makes me kinda accept the possibility that him going over to DD's side and spying on Voldie is something that Voldie was in on...

I still think that he might have been one of the DE's who was there at the meeting, but Voldie just didnt' address... :(

I don't know. For all we know, Snape could have told Dumbledore about the Averys/Lestranges and it was Dumbledore who chose not to act. Do we know for sure that Snape kept it a secret? Or, maybe they did in fact chose to act on this information but for some reason or another, they received no punishment.

I've noticed that in this thread and a few others, there's a lot of discrepency in respect to what Snape really knows and what he's telling Dumbledore about Voldemort and the Death Eaters. It could go numerous ways: Snape knows nothing, He knows information and has told Dumbledore, He knows something and hasn't told Dumbledore for some reason or another (not bad ones,) or He knows something and hasn't told Dumbledore because he's evil and is still working for Voldemort.

Snape is being quite difficult to interpret at the moment!

Well, I'm seeing these two as options, either Snape knows nothing, or he's still working for Voldie...

I dont' think that if he had really changed to the light, and he knew that he wouldn't have told DD, and I cant' see DD keeping these things a secret... after all, people deserve to know the truth, and it woudlnt' really be safe to have DE's wandering around and people thinking that they are good guys???

Peter was a full De, since he has the mark in the arm, so then Snape must know; that's what makes me belive that he doesn't care Sirius tobe innocent, he hates him so much that wants him to be dead.

And I don't think Snape could have gone to that meeting (we already had a great discussion about this, and it seems noone convined the other one); but I kust can'y think of other DE that could have leave Voldemprt for ever, and if Snape still is a DE why he tried to stopped Quirell.

Good point, but he does have that silver hand. I think that's more of an evil branding than the mark is.

And as for why Snape left Voldemort, maybe he realised that the power would soon be switching to Dumbledore's side and thought it more favourable to be associated with him. That whole ambition and power thing again.

Neo, why would Snape have to know about Peter? At his trial, Karkaroff said that one DE knew all of the others, not even aming the highest ranking one.
But I don't really see it as a option that Snape knows nothing at all. He would've been pretty useless as a spy then, but he seemed quite important to DD...

Good point. I had forgotten about that. He must have had a vast amount of valuable information for DD to accept him into the good side.

So that leaves three possibilities: Snape is keeping his information secret for good, Snape is keeping information secret for ill, and Snape is informing DD and we/Harry don't know of it yet.

I think I like the last possibility the best. Probably just because I like him better as a 'good' character. He's more interesting that way...

Hrmm, I still think that there is another possibility.. that Snape doesnt' actually know about who all the other DE's are... with the Lestranges... they were captured, so everyoneknows that they were/are de's, but maybe Snape just doesn't know the names of them all..I'd say that he knows a few, and he's pribably told DD who they are...

Anyways, if Snape has told DD who they are, is Snape's word against them enough to put them into Azkaban, or not??? :-?

I think that if DD has been this trusting of Snape thus far, then Snape's word, combined with DD's trust of him is enough to put them in Azkaban. DD does have a lot of power over people.
