Who do you like best and who could you definately live without? Will there be romance in the air for any of them and who will end up with who?

Me, I just like conflict. It changes people. Conflict and argument bring new perspectives and more creative ways of representing those perspectives

conflict brings pain and chaos. it damages some relationships beyond repair, in a conflict you see the worst sides of people and things are never quite the same. it's not fun nor is it informative. it's hurtful and it only leaves you with emotional scars.

Surviving a conflict can make you wiser. You know how it goes, what doesnt't kill you, makes you stronger. As for discovering the worst in people...don't you think it's best you know someone both ways: good or bad?

Conflict and argument bring new perspectives and more creative ways of representing those perspectives

Yes, if one is willing to listen to someone elses argument. Not go on with I'm right and you're stupid. But you are right...conflicts can prove to be creative. Those conflicts of oppinion, the purpose of which isn't to hurt somebody else, just to prove your point. The conflicts that leave emotional scars are more of ...fights i guess.

I care to disagree. In conflict, you see a person at their best as well. Your blood is pumping, your mind is racing. You're pushed to your mental limit, and that is when you really learn what a person is worth. If you can only be with a person when you both get along, then its a worthless relationship. The main problem, is that people invest far too much emotion into an argument. It's really quite stupid

well yes i agree siruk, i prefer a good fight any dyas. physical scars fade faster and hurt less.

and i happen to like being in a challenging, split second, emergency situation. it does bring out the best in people. you learn what you are really worth, you gonna sink or swim?

but tanuki, that is in a life threatening situation, wars, bombs, saving lives, that is conflict. not arguing black is white for the sake of arguing as you so frequently do. you're talking about arguments, i'm talking about actual life-changing conflicts. if arguing over petty things is the biggest kick you get in a day, i think it's time you took up a hobby. why not knitting?

I'd just like to echo what has already been mentioned a couple of times: this thread is supposed to be about Draco Malfoy. The thread has verred into off-topic territory which is not at all uncommon for discussions, but I for one think that we should try to get back on topic.

Religion can be such a touchy topic and I think that if anyone wants to have a serious discussion about it; there are better places than this thread to do it.

anyway......

I have a question about draco and can't find reference to it and here seemed the right place for it until the discussion moved off topic.

When did draco get the hand of glory? Maybe i missed it in the earlier books (i know it was in CoS but didn't think he bought it as lucius told Burgin off for saying DM could use it for thieving).

Let me know if anyway can remember.

Alas - I can't remember what the Hand of Glory was now!!! I think it must have been HBP as I've just read all the books again up to OOTP. Can't start reading HBP again until I've got it back - lent it to someone!

When Harry first uses Floo Powder in CoS he is transported into Burgin and Borkes.
He sees Draco and his father, and Draco asks the man what a thing on the bench is.
The thing is the Hand of Glory.

Yes, but I don't think he bought it then - Lucius said something about Borgin thinking Draco was nothing more than a common thief.

So when did he buy it and how come Ron knows about it? There isn't much in the lexicon either - just a description and note mentioning chapter 4 of CoS.
