Fortescue, Ollivander, Bones, Vance

Who do you like best and who could you definately live without? Will there be romance in the air for any of them and who will end up with who?

What if Voldemort, went to Ollivander so he could have a wand maker for him to give the DE back there wands (the ones who were in Azkaban) or to get new ones....

Or even went to the shop to steal wands so he could use them for the DE, and Ollivander got in they way, so he either kidnappped him or killed him...

I think it was more of, he wanted to disarm his opponets.

Yes I agree with that.

If, in five years, all the adult wizards have been wiped out, and all that remains are the children...

They're going to need to have been trained properly with good wands.

Here, here. Voldemort can probably make his own wands for his minions.

Hmm that's really interesting - I hadn't thought of that. Perhaps Ollivander was threatened to close his shop after all so that LV's opponents would have to buy poorer quality wands that wouldn't match up to Ollivanders. Nifty!

Maybe there's some kind of "super wand" that LV is making Ollivander make for him.

I have been having a rethink about Ollivander making wands for the DE's. It occurred to me that Ollivander was a great friend of Dumbledore. I think he would probably die before making wands for enemies. Maybe he did just take off?

J.K.R never said Ollivander was a great friend of Dumbledore's. Harry's hair stands on end when he talks to Ollivander, just like when he talks to Voldemort. I know this is getting out there, but maybe Ollivander IS Voldemort. Now that Voldemort's plan is in action, he no longer has to make wands. Maybe he wanted to know all the children's wands, so he could know how to destroy them. Maybe the REAL Ollivander is dead and gone.

Sometimes I have to scream at these ideas when I read them... I won't bother, I just won't comment on that theory at all...

What about Fortescue? What was so special about him? He seemed quite nice...

The reason I picked up that Ollivander was a great friend of DD was because he persuaded Fawkes to provide his feathers for wands. Only someone completely loyal to DD would have been able to do that I think. I'm with Phoenix on the Ollivander is LV theory - no way!

I'm not that confident in my own theory, but there's just something odd about this Ollivander business. I don't know, could be a red-herring, or a big plot-point.

The thing about plot-points is that when you approach a 7th and final book in a series, it's unlikely there'll bring a new major plot-line.

I think it's quite obviously that the next one will at least be mostly taken up by the searching and destroying of the horcruxes.

Yeah, but, like I said, there was something odd about Harry's hair standing on end when Ollivander talked to him. That could have been a major plot-point starting in the first book.
