Voted for Neville. His person has developed so much in OotP, more than Harry's. From a really shy, scared boy, he has now shown everybody how brave he is. And I admire him for it. He has grown up without parents, just as Harry, but in a way, I think Neville's youth may have been more difficult, because all his relatives were comparing him with his father, and Neville wasn't showing all the signs of becoming a major wizard. The way he's dealt with those problems is worth an applause. : )

Of course, Peeves is great too, accepting orders from George and Fred!

i've got to say that sirius is.. or was... definitely my favorite character. i tthought he was so increadibly well written. hw was almost easier to connect w/ than harry himself. i for one thought that was amazing. o was so sad to see him go, i don't know what jkr was thinking, she ditched her best character. i can only hope that she somehow brings him back somehow in one of the last two books. probly something to do with that veil thingy, but that's something for another thread. well, those are my thoughts...

My favorite character....hmmmm...*rubs chin thoughtfully*

I had to put Draco, I had to. He's just, absolutly brilliant on so many levels. I've always had an affinity for the darker of the sides, but this time, there's no question.

Though...Sirius and Lupin were close, the Marauders are close to everyone's heart I suppose...sept maybe Peter, but that's...that's a tale for another time.

If I have to choose only one (it's so difficult), I pick up Dumbledore (see my nickname... :) ). He's so calm, clever, capable of solving all the situations, of keeping everyone under his control, he's wise and, as we saw in the OoP, even human, because he makes mistakes too !
And don't forget he's "The Only One He Ever Feared". Great !!!

A little behind our Headmaster I choose Harry, Lupin, Sirius and Snape, becuase I think they are the characters upon whom JK worked best, they have a real complex and fascinating personality.

A mention even for Hermione.

Wow, there are so many awesome characters in the books.
I love Ron & Hermione, Ginny, Dumbledore, McGonagall (definitely the COOLEST teacher), Snape (sooo fascinating, for me the most intriguing character), Neville, Lee Jordan (funny Quidditch commentaries!!) etc etc etc

But my favourites are Sirius, James and Remus Lupin (he's the all-time best!). I just love the whole thing about them. The way they were the coolest kids in school, James and Sirius being the cleverest and the best at everything, Sirius being drop-dead gorgeous, the Marauder's Map, the animagus thing, the two-way mirrors (for when they were in separate detentions!), the way they stuck together (pretending Pettigrew didn't exist here lol), the lovely lovely part where Remus & Sirius got all nostalgic upon hearing about what Harry saw in the Pensieve ('"I'd forgotten he used to do that", "was he playing with the snitch?"') etc etc etc. I can't get enough of reading about those three, I love them to bits!
I know James was nasty in the pensieve scene but I still couldn't help liking him, the way he messed up his hair and played with the snitch, and was obviously nuts about Lily. One of my favourite lines was 'James's free hand immediately jumped to his hair' :D! Of course, looooove Sirius ('looking bored but very handsomely so', '"reading between the lines, I'd say she thinks you're a bit conceited mate"' LOL), and have been crazy about Lupin since PoA. He's just wonderful in every way!

PS I'm so glad I found this forum, I can talk about HP for aaaages without annoying anyone because you all love the books too! It's fab :D

I voted for Mr. Weasley. He's a loving husband and attentive father. He's great with Charms and curious about how things work. He's young-at-heart enough to get real enjoyment out of his job, instead of grinding through it feeling disgruntled. He loves learning about other cultures (mainly Muggles  ); and he strongly supports cross-cultural exchange (both w/Muggles and international Wizarding cooperation). Best of all, he's a fiery, outspoken redhead!

"We have a very different idea about what disgraces the name of wizard, Malfoy." Right on!

My favorite characters are the trio; they pretty much act as one unit so I'm not going to chose just *cough, hermione, cough* one out of them. :-)

Although Hagrid in the film is what got me into reading the books.

I voted others because my favorites are Fred and George!!!! They are the best! They cause all kinds of trouble and are really funny. They don't care about what they do. Their best moment was when they flew out on their brooms. "Give her hell from us Peeves." They are the best. I hope they do good with their joke shop. From what we have seen they already have (them wearing the dragonskin suits) [/quote]

I don't really have one favorite character, my favorites are kinda lumped tegether as one though. I LOVE Fred and George. They are so funny I think that if I had to be friends with anyone out of the books, it would be them. They bring a little comedy even though there's so much bad stuff going on. I wonder what's going to happen with them in the next book? Hopefully we get to see their joke shop!

Hey accioniffer, we have a lot in common: The love of Fred and George, The Ataris, and AP English...lol

Yeah I really like Fred and George...I was nearly rolling off my chair at work when i read the part when they fly out of school....I used to have a Fred and George fansite back in the 8th grade, but as I am horrible at computer stuff it died like three months later...ahhh the good old days...
